Vedauwoo makes you work for the grades. Climbed there for about 10 years 2001-2011. We climbed around the Nautlis area the most. The bouldering is really good. BTW Cupcake is a Boulder problem, Bob Scarpelli would rag on you.

Big Pink story: one day, a few of us meet at the walk-in to Jay's Solo and Plumb Line. Bob S arrives in his Geo Metro, with the back hatch stuffed with climbing gear. He rootles around in a laundry tub and finds a prototype Big Bro, which he says is all he needs to lead Big Pink. We warm up on a few routes, then Bob launches up BP to show us the best method for climbing it. He shuffles up 25 feet without any gear, then tries to place the Big Bro. Uh oh -- it's one size too big. It fits in the crack (barely), but it won't telescope far enuf to engage the locking collar. Bob curses, yanks it out of the crack ... and THEN it telescopes to full length, striking him right in the forehead like one of those pneumatic hammers they use in slaughterhouses. "Whoof," says Bob. He's clearly stunned and rocking slightly in the crack. Then he pulls it together, racks the piece, and shuffles back down to the deck. We are torn between concern for his safety and the need to stifle laughter (for *our* safety). Bob lands & starts untying, and he has this red circular dent right between the eyes. We run back up Plumb Line and set a toprope & spend a couple hours floundering on this, uh, 5.11b offwidth. I think Bob must have been concussed, because he actually admitted Big Pink is a sandbag, which is out of character. "Yeah -- it's 5.12," he says.

I was excited to watch this with my 6 yr old daughter to empower her mindset of strong women but was disappointed with the overcompensation of cuss words and machisma attitudes. Great job climbing, but I hope for more depth in future videos that can inspire young women.

Tom Paul Randall has been the most supportive individual to my personal climbing. I met him when I was climbing 5.11 and talking of dreams of climbing harder(5.14) and he was the ONLY really good climber that didn’t condescend or laugh and instead gave me the tools in order to succeed.
