as a filipino, I'm always appreciative to the americans for teaching us filipinos how to speak & write english ....... it turned to be a very good idea,we maybe poor compare to south korea,japan,china,malaysia & even thailand,but we have something that they these countries can't claim,"tons of good english speakers & writers" with an accent that easier to understand compare to them ..... I think india & pakistan can claim that too cuz the brits taught them how to write & speak english,but you can't deny that a lot of educated filipinos had an english accent that easier to understand compare to these 2 countries ...... I'm not hating them,but just stating the fact ....... good day to you man !!!!!!!! mabuhay !!!

That's one reason the Canadian Tourism and Hospitality Institute opened a chapter in Mandaluyong, metro Manila. The head of the school said that because of their ability to speak English and the manner in which they carry themselves they have the right factors to work in the hospitality industry. So Filipinos rule the waves --used to be the British but no more. Filipinos are on just about any cruise and even cargo ships. I know because one of my friends took the course with her relative and now they work on one of the National Geographic Lindblad Expedition ships.They are the modern seafarers. Right now their ship is down in Antarctica where it's summer but still freezing cold.Before they were in French Polynesia. And before that their ship went up to the Arctic Circle below the north pole, and to many of the ports in northern Europe. The cruise ships need people who can speak in English to their guests. And from what they told me they are being paid salaries similar to professionals like doctors in the Philippines. And neither of them have college degrees like the three ladies in the video.

When you asked which province did you come from? I thought you mean the other islands, but the one girl said Asturias, a town northwest of Cebu which is next to Balamban and Talisay, a city next to Cebu. For the people of Cebu, if you were not born in the capital Cebu City or as we call it Ciudad (Spanish for city), you are from the province or provencia. The other girl is from Negros Occidental (Bacolod City), that's the other meaning of province, a separate island. And that question "If you were the president ,,,, it sounded like a Miss Universe pageant question. It made them thinking. Lol I think the girls did a good job of answering your questions honestly plus you gave them a good practice for their English conversational skills especially with a native speaker.

I think we allow 3 Brits at any one time Louis. LOL. I have met several Brits here including one who was living in Switzerland. There are "clubs" here where expats gather regularly. One is a walking/jogging club that is worldwide and originated with British soldiers I believe. I can't think of the name right now. There is a bowling club with expats from various nations, and also a club in Cebu that goes to a buffet once each month. I seem to meet a lot of Australians here also but fewer Brits.

Good video Rod, I like man in the street, or in this case Filipina in the mall pieces. I know other people have said it but the Philippines needs some cities planned from the ground up, military grid, standard blocks, planned for parking, to lure businesses and people away from overcrowded cities.
@AmazingPhilippines15 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert. The major problem now is trying to design solutions for the cities that are so densely populated. I think some of the piers will be moved just north of the city over time and a couple new bridges will be built as well as a bypass around the foothills but they are several years off.
@robertkubrick37385 жыл бұрын
@@AmazingPhilippines1 - Rod, there is a definite need for more first class cities. Everyone wants to be in first class cities where if you could pay the extra cost, you can live in approximate first world conditions, which most Filipinos can't, but can afford it an hour at a time. A poor place isn't a place where there is little money, there is no place more poor than one where there is Nothing to buy. There is No particularly special about Cebu, or Manila for that matter, geographically, it's the things, goods, services and facilities that have accreted at those spots. Manila used to be a swamp buy there was the bay and that's how it began. There are many bays though, Manila was just larger. I think two bays some distance apart might have been better, but that's me.

@AmazingPhilippines15 жыл бұрын
Many people here work on 6 months contract Joe and then they have to apply for another 6 months. Generally bad for the person and saves the company some money and they may not provide any benefits. The government is trying to force companies to "regularize" employees and pay the standard benefits but it is taking time.

Many Americans do go here in Cebu especially in the Southern part like in Moal Boal and the reason why there so rare to see them it's because they go in the peaceful area like without other crowded tourist and also the Americans are the third largest foriegn tourist in this country about 1,064,440 of them who visited here in 2019.
