I am booked on Philippines Airlines, to.arrive in Manila ,and then fly on to Cebu, on the 7th January 2025. I fly in from Malaysia, on an Australian Passport. I do not currently have a flight booked to get out from the Philippines. I was hoping to get a visa extension, to give me a possible 6 month stay in the Philippines. This is the first time ever visiting the Philippines. Am I going to have trouble because I have no forwarding flight. If I get a forwarding flight, how do I get an extension of visa when I will need a forwarding flight the next time I enter the Philippines. Seems like a circular. Never ending trip.

Sadly , this well meaning gentleman has it wrong. I have intimate knowledge of Filipino doctors. First thing you need to know is that patients are not good at assessing competency. Name one service or locally made product that is the equivalent of the West. No luck? Why would medical services be equivalent ? My advice ….if you’re really sick get on a plane , go home or go to Singapore. I personally would crawl on all fours up the stairs to board a plane rather than have surgery in Philippines

As a person gets older their health will start to fail because their immune systems does not work correctly.. an older person should be conscious of their diet especially in the Philippines.. wsah your vegetables and fruits really well because Filipinos use a lot of pesticides unless they are organic gardening.. if you can find an organic farmer and buy from him.. do not eat any raw fish I like sushi in the Philippines.. make sure all of your meat is cooked to the proper temperature.. also use water filters at your house and even the water that you buy to drink should be filtered.. the Philippines is full of parasites and you need to have a diet that will kill off the parasites like eating raw garlic for one.. older people need a good diet that will keep their immune system in top-notch shape.. you can make a lot of your own stuff to keep your gut health working correctly.. haveing good health starts at home.. everyone definitely should have a contact of a doctor and a plan in case an emergency happens.. I personally carry close to $1,000 on my person at all times and have two or three thousand dollars or more in my house that I can get my hands on in case of an emergency.. rod is correct and everybody should have a plan for an emergency healthcare situation.. always great information and thank you sir Rod..👍👍🏖️🏝️👙👙😁🍺🍻😎🇺🇸

From their website it seems that they don't offer prostate artery embolisation, an up-to-date treatment option for benign prostate hyperplasia, which is common among elderly men. That makes me wonder whether really all first world treatment options are available in the Philippines.

What older men will do for loneliness. 😊. Go to a 3rd world country for companionship! Lived in the Philippines for nearly a year in 2002. I was 42 at the time. Nearly everyone talks about the cost of medical care in the US! However, it works!!! No deposits, no surprises, and most of all I know what to expect. Your experience in Tempe Arizona is something I've never heard of before. There was a slight exception when my wife had her gallbladder removed. They wanted her to pay her $300 deductible upfront on the day of the surgery. No problem at all. Surgery was performed and her Aetna insurance paid the rent. No problems with getting pain medication. Utter ridiculous for someone to come into your hospital room and tell you that you need to make another deposit before you can receive any further treatment. Where's the wisdom of living in the Philippines? None! It's all because you can have a younger woman in a nutshell! It's cheaper in some respects depending on where you are from in the West. It's not cheaper than where I'm living in Southern Mississippi and that's one of the reasons I moved here from the Dallas-Fort Worth area plus I have relatives here. Some people like living their life on the edge and yes it's the edge especially if you are an older gentleman living in your 4th quarter. I love watching you tube vloggers compare the costs of doing business in the Philippines versus the US. Of course it's less but look at the BS you have to go through! For some it must be worth it but for most, not hardly. US is ridiculously overpriced but at least I know what to expect for the most part. I'm nearly 67 and I have medicare and tricare for life which tricare is accepted in a lot of hospitals in the Philippines for payment after you put up your 25% of the bill. My Filipina wife has Aetna and tricare select. All I can say sir is good luck to you, enjoy your adventure because it's definitely an adventure and I'm one talking from experience not just bashing. 90% of everything in the Philippines is out-of-the-ordinary. If that's what you call a peaceful retirement then peaceful definitely takes on a total different meaning. I've text you before and you said you enjoyed living in the Philippines! All I can do is shake my head for you are the exception and not the rule compared to the many who try to retire there. My pensions are fine for living in the US! We will visit but never live there especially in our senior years. Philippines is a place for people who feel they have nothing to lose so why not go out with a bang!!!😂

You're forgetting a big plus of the Philippines: they don't tax foreign income, which is great if you're living off dividends and aren't a citizen of the US or Eritrea (the only countries which tax their citizens even if they are living abroad).

I know… many are very good. But overall, you’ve convinced me at 70 years old to return to live in Mexico near the US border where it’s also cheap to live and just 2 hours to any VA hospital in the US for free doctor care and hospitalization if needed. Many Mexican doctors are trained in the US, so I’m sure I could get awesome care in Mexico too.
