Love this. This is exactly what I've done. Years later, my daughter did it along with her girlfriends. They were all very popular. The first dance at their school, they made sure the unpopular, shy boys were the center of attention. It was one of the best nights of all their lives. Group dancing, twirling, laughter, etc. The boys came out of their shell's that night. The girls were elated that they all had such a good time. I loved the confidence they instilled in the shy guys. I said, "Don't forget about them at school. She said it's okay, mom. We met some cool boys. We won't be ignoring them at school anymore. I was so proud of them.. They made a real difference that would affect the boys, probably the rest of their lives.. kindness is contagious at that age..

@margaritanoir8 ай бұрын
@homemail9653 Life includes a lot of experiences thar harm us that it's better not to experience. The best for him is to reject them, change his perspective and focus on his studies and self development until he notices a girl worth his effort. Actually it was a mistake he approached them instead of Elle. Yes all of them are pretty but don't suit him. However asking out Elle would have been a whole different experience and might have helped them bond as friends since he wasn't talking until that point.
@homemail96538 ай бұрын
@margaritanoir living life in the defensive is not life. That's existing. Also, you are speaking in the context of a movie where we know the outcome. I've never seen the movie, I am commenting on life as I see it. I see a young man who is not even in love but infatuated. If the girl dumps him, it won't break his heart, but it should teach him of possibilities. Being disappointed by a young woman whom one is dating is not something that is so earth-shattering that no young man should experience. I would even argue that it is a rite of passage. But we can always agree to disagree on this.

Not really. The only thing Elle did was to point out to the girls that getting hung up on his "lack of looks" was a poor reason for rejecting him, and increasing his apparent value. Apparent, because he only needed a makeover to dramatically increase his looks. His true value as a person wouldn't change, and that was something Elle saw effortlessly. I think the main reason he and Elle didn't end up together is timing. At this point, she's still trying to prove herself to be worthy to stand next to Warner. By the time she's over Warner, she's into Luke's character. Edit She totally could have given him a makeover at any time, but logically, while focusing on the degree is not the right time. If they'd gotten together, she'd have started buying him better clothes, and carefully helped him with proper manners (he did an open mouthed smile at her when she thanked him for handing a book to her).
