Girls Making Their Own Home Made Tiny-house

Gridlessness

4 жыл бұрын

The older girls have been making their own home made Tiny-house over the last couple years and have finally moved in!
It started when Sarah was 15, making plans for her house and deciding what type of structure and foundation she would need. At the same time we were building a horse shelter and had installed treated poles in the ground. It seemed like a great idea to build her tiny house on the second level, above the horse shelter.
Chipping away in their spare time the girls framed the walls and finished the roof last year, making their own custom SIP's (structurally insulated panels) and installed standing seam roofing metal. So far this year they've installed second hand windows, their home made wooden door, and milled spruce for the board and batten siding.
This off grid tiny house is super cute and simple. With home made and second hand materials they've kept the cost very low and developed all sorts of new skills. How's that for a real life home school project!?
There's lots more to do; heating, water, outhouse and finishing the inside. We'll be sure to provide an update.
We couldn't be more proud of the girls making their own home made tiny-house. See you later girls!

Lol...I think popcorn, chocolate milk and going to bed early would be one heck of a party!😉To take that party to a respectable level of "crazy" I might even make chocolate bar cocoa and raw cheddar popcorn!🙌🎉

Dad puns....every teenage girl’s worst nightmare. I love the obligatory grin and half-hearted laugh....she loves her Dad so she politely smiles or gives a little laugh....and in the meantime she’s doing everything humanly possible to prevent her eyes from rolling into back of her head. I love my own dad with all my heart...he is 80 now and I’m nearly 60 and the dad puns are still part of our relationship! ❤️

Awesome. Letting your daughters take risks to become self reliant. That would solve a lot of our problems if every parent did the same.

This was not a small undertaking....for anyone, regardless of age. These girls didn't purchase their lumber....they milled it from the trees on their property. These are some determined, intelligent, gutsy girls. One cannot help but admire, even love, people like them. I am in awe of this wonderful family and if I could start over....they are what I would try to emulate for my family. Great video!!!!!!!!

That is cool to see. We raised two girls on a small farm in the mountains of southern B.C. . We had a couple of teen boys come to do some work one day as part of a fund raising thing they were doing. They tried hard to keep up with my younger girls, and couldn't. The mother of one of the boys called my wife after to tell her that her son came home and did the dishes and told her he would never complain about doing the chores again. They both went to bed early. , Your girls are very lucky to live the life they are living, it is giving them so many life skills and an attitude that will carry them through what ever hard times they face, and an understanding that it is all doable. Thanks for sharing.

It's amazing. I'm impressed. These girls are really amazing. I apologize but to be honest how I wish to have daughters same like Abby, Sarah and rest of their siblings. Aside from being adorable, they practically knows their individually responsibility in the family even with out a brother. @@TBPollock ..Yah, I agree. You nailed it. Unfortunately, I raised my three sons in an environment where a family is quite dysfunctional. I worked overseas for the last 26 years and therefore my kids (all boys) were raised all alone by my wife. It's a sad truth that I haven't enough opportunity to mold them accordingly in way that they can be of similar attitudes like this five girls. Being away from the family for a long period of time is absolutely bears negative or rather opposite effects in terms of attitude, guidance and well-being.
