Off-Grid Gravity Water System using Beaver Pond Water

Our homestead gardens needs more water so its time to use the beaver pond for an off-grid gravity water system.
We installed a pumped storage water system using around 2000 feet of pipe and a 1000 gallon tank. The total lift from the beaver pond to the tank is approx. 35 feet.
Using a Bobcat trencher with the Toolcat was brilliant for installing the water pipes.... except for that saturated clay part
The Honda water pump runs about 90 minutes to fill the tank and uses very little fuel.
In the future if we build a large structure on the hill by the tank (like a hay barn?!) we could collect rain water to feed the tank. In the meantime using a couple gallons of gas each summer is a very affordable way to fill an off-grid gravity water system.

Great Task completed, nice video as usual, nice to see you all labouring in the muddy waters. The digging was at what depth , and I guess you were stuck in the muck , how you managed to get the bobcat out? I liked the time you helped the mud get more in her shoes..hehe. Why you could not dig a well and fix a pump in your farm yard. Would that not be a better solution for water? By the way how deep would you have to dig for a well in your area... Anyway great video enjoyed it.. thanks again and God bless you all.
@Gridlessness

A drilled well in this area would likely be around 200-300' and roughly $30k all in. The deep well water around here is usually full of iron and would need some treatment. We've spend a lot of time and money on wells in the past on other properties and at this point we're happy to get some experience with rainwater and pumped storage etc. thanks for asking,

Nice video. I have a tip for you to free the vehical; when the mud isnt to wet i use two bags of quick cement. It costs almost nothing. when you pore it just in front and back of the wheels mix it a bit withe dirt and have a cup of coffee. It dries in 25 min. ready to drive out. remove the slabs to be reused in landscaping. Ive managed to get unstuck this way without anyone noticing my strugle. good luck next time.

Chances are pretty good that with that water source so close to your house you would be able to dig a well and tap into more pure ground water (after filtering) to supply the house. You might be able to do what Red Poppy Ranch did and dig your own shallow well. As long as you don't dig the well deeper then what the county will allow you to do yourself. If you haven't yet you should check them out... They are a really nice family just like you guys are. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I
