You should absolutely watch the series and perhaps also the movies. I almost got put off by the first episode because the majority is about the background of the girls but the end of that episode surprised me so I decided to continue watching. I finished the entire season overnight amazed by how good it is. The movie is on another level, peak tank battles alone with fantastic music. It is now one of my favorite animes. You can skip the part that you are not interested in and go straight to battles.

GuP is a bit slow, but gets much better by episode 3. And you'll definitely enjoy episodes 11 and 12. Also, that BT42 is in the movie, not the first series, and it saved a real version of itself in a tank museum in Finland. The museum put out a notice that they needed funds to restore the BT42 they had, and were astonished by the huge volume of donations they receieved from Japan, and had to go do some research to find out why.

It's better in warthunder. However considering I can kill a Ferdinand/Elephant from the front with a 40mm bofors at 500m while I can't with 90mm HEATFS (on the flat of the turret) is a big "how" in that pen amount is not as important as RNG HE spamming.

The BT-42 uses the same 114mm gun as the FV304, they should have made it able to drive like it could irl without the tracks.

Yes but the BT chassis is not able to drive without tracks without preparation. It needs some weird thing installed to get the drive transferred from drive sprockets to road wheels. So the Anime is not accurate either, but it certainly would have been cool tho.

As a fan of the show, I can confirm the voice acting is accurate. The Ankou crew is the most cheerful, loud and passionate, BT-42 is just Finnish, and Erika is just German lol, being the boss. Gg for Wargaming to put more of those in the game! Now we need Katyusha and British crew!

"Jatkosota" means continuation war. I read from an interview that this tank was a disaster, they said that you couldn't hit anything smaller than an airport with that gun and that's when you were stationary, from the move you were even less accurate. And as QB mentioned, the gun was useless against other tanks.

The reason the gun didnt work all the time was the shells HEAT shells were copied off of German ones but they didnt arm properly because of the different muzzle velocities and spin rate of the rounds

This is a really great collaboration, mainly because the tanks + crew are available for direct purchase and not hidden inside lootboxes. Finally, WG did something right again.

@quickybaby I can confirm that unlike most unique crews, the Bt-42 crew will still have unique interactions with each other even if other generic crew members are present in the tank. I have been using them in my VK2801 105 with two extra members in there and all three girls are still interacting with each other on it.

I watched Girls und Panzer when it first aired in 2012 and honestly it was what got me into playing WoT later on lol In response to QB's question @6:12 I think the first several episodes of the anime is not so good, especially if you're mainly watching for the tanks, but the remaining episodes and the rest of the movies are beautiful. The key is to not take it too seriously. The premise alone of school girls in tanks as a sporting activity should be enough to temper your expectations. There's no use getting mad if what you see on screen is not historically/physically accurate (although there are some historical references here and there).

As an anime fan and a fan of Girls und Panzer, I'm absolutely delighted that there's another collaboration. Well, the last part of the finale has also come out in the meantime. I think that's why the two other tanks came into the game in the first place. Fun Fact in Anime BT-42 is a menace. It can solo the whole Pershing squad. While the commander is literally playing Polka. Mika always have her calm personality. The whole BT-42 crew are calm. American Pershings needs to be worry.

15:25 if you check out the rest of the crew with Erika you find out they are actually commanders of other tanks (from the same school) in the show, one is even the commander of the Maus. Now what they are doing here is a mystery, probably has some tie in with Das Finale which a part is/was release recently. From what I understand Das Finale is going to be in 6 parts.

The 2 to 3 first episodes of G&P is for the story construction. It gets way better after these episodes with battles every 1 or 2 episodes, also there is a movie focused on a "great battle" and a long movie in 3 parts including french school. The anime is great, it's just a bit long at the beginning

Have never watched the show, but is the only way I could get a BT-42 (one of my most wanted tanks). So far it has been a lot of fun, play it with a smile and a laugh. Setup has been Rotation Device, Vert Stabs and Rammer. Now if WG would just introduced an AC3 Thunderbolt I'd be happy.

All the commanders have unique lines alone, and the Jatkosota crew interacts, and they added back voice lines for the Ankou (Oorai) crew interactions and it's nice they had the official mod covered that too. I kitted my Kuro Tiger the same as my Tiger C, durability, rammer, turbo

@2:16 Not really an oversight since it is based on the Soviet BT-7 tank after all, which used the commander/gunner, driver and loader crew loadouts IRL (interestingly the in game versions of BT-7 and BT-7 artillery do not use this loadout). But yeah the BT-42 was a disaster of a tank IRL. It was mechanically unreliable, inaccurate, the HE shell wasn't really suited for tank combat and the HEAT shell that was copied from German designs wouldn't arm properly due to difference in velocity and rifling. Seeing as the HEAT shells failed to penetrate a T34 IRL, I think the listed 100+mm pen is quite an unrealistic number. The gun is BTW the same 4.5 inch howitzer (which in British usage only shot HE and smoke shells) that is in game used in Bishop, FV304 and Crusader 5.5-in. SP (none of which IRL actually used that gun). Regardless it is nice to finally see it in game, as it is an actual design that was used in combat. Not enough to make me change from my F2P ways tho. Don't really care about the other 2 tanks, as I already got the King Tiger (C) and tech tree PZ IV H.

the Girls und Panzer show (and movies) have excellent battles! they're a bit nonsensical in that the physics can be bonkers, but it's fun to watch and can get you pretty hyped up. also the sound design is incredible! love hearing all of the guns, engines, tracks, etc sounds that theyve gone the extra mile to make.

I have the correct mod moved to my WOT mod folder, but when I load up the game with Erika as my commander the voice lines are in there but theres absolutely no subtitles. I have subtitles on in my settings and I'm completely at a loss as to why its not working. Ive been trying to get it to work all day

I'd definitely recommend you giving another go at the serie. The first two episodes are a bit slow as they're putting everything into context and easing you into it, but after that you're in for a wild ride that is fun to pretty much everyone, tank enthusiast or not, anime enthusiast or not.

To your question about Girls und Panzer anime - I think its absolutely amazing if you are somebody interested in tanks outside of just games, and might be easily one of the best piece of cinema about tanks I could count number of anime series Ive seen on my hands as it could be about 10, but Girls und Panzer is truly something special for history buffs. Its also got in general nice atmosphere, humour, various schools based on various nations represent their old stereotypes... There's Girls und Panzer the original anime, then Girls und Panzer Der Film, and now Girls und Panzer Das Finale

Believe it or not, this anime is the reason of why I started WoT on 2015/2016 lol. I was already a tank lover ever since I played a tank game called "Panzer Front" in PS1 way back then when I was still a kid. After I saw this anime in my college years, 9 searched whether there are other newer ww2 tank for PC. And I saw WoT.

It begins funny but the longer you look the Episodes, the more Battles you get and that´s when the Series starts to shine 😁. Yet one thing to WG . BBBBOOOOO !!!! Why did you not put the reworked ELC from the Movie in ? That one would surely became a fun Tank to drive.
