I've personally had good experiences buying clothes from Kohl's (especially if you check out their clearance racks, because I bought my first actual dress from there for like $20, and it was a super cute shirt dress) and TJ Maxx. I also bought a lot of my first "girl" clothes at Hot Topic. I know Hot Topic gets a lot of rap from varoious fandoms for being a "trendy poser" store, but the fact that they are very counter-culture adjacent (I guess you could call it?) means that when I told the employees that I needed to use their dressing room to try on some skirts & dresses (this was early on in my own self-discovery), they didn't even bat an eye, and even complimented my selections. Also, love your top (or dress if that's what it is)!

Thrift stores can be hit or miss. It really depends on the area. Here in Indianapolis I wouldn't recommend them because the selection is small across all sizes. If you are going online Amazon is good and they have a try before you buy policy on a lot of clothes so you could have a rotating wardrobe essentially free. If you are a larger size the full beauty brands have 12 different companies including intimates and swimwear for everyone.

Another great video, Paola! Thanks for sharing :) I personally buy mine online the most, probably Amazon. But outside, I've done Zara, Old Navy, TJ MAXX, Marshall, and many more! The selection is amazing out there for women. Recently mine has been gym stuff including gymnastics and swimming like Carbon 38, Koral, Heroine Sports, GK, Nike, Alpha Factor, Under Armour, Hiro Gato, Speedo, Asics, Leohex, and many more.

Kohl's, I've gotten a lot of really nice things out of the clearance section, and if you have a card with them you get anywhere between 15 and 30% off, I recently bought a skirt that was originally $35 it was in clearance and with the 30% off I had I paid about $5

Thanks Paola - as a relative newcomer to the CD journey, these tips on how to most economically put together a wardrobe are much appreciated. This sport ain't cheap, although I understand golf is worse! So far though, I have had good luck at JCP provided I wait for a sale - they are often good. Black Friday this past season was spectacular!

Hi Paola. New subscriber to your channel and I love it! And I have to say. You. Look. Amazing. I too have been cross dressing for years and love women’s clothes and fashion. I’ve considered transitioning working with a therapist and decided at this stage in my life (mid 50’s) it wouldn’t be a good fit for me. That being said, a lot of the stores you mentioned seems to be regional to where you live so you m unfamiliar with them. I’ve shopped Walmart mostly for under garments. Everything else is either young women and older with not much in between and the styles are “meh” Target is ok, better styles resonable prices. Kohls seems to be the best for brick and mortar stores. Nice styles, well made, a bit more in price but the better quality makes it worth it. All three do have the advantage of online shopping and in person returns I’m surprised you didn’t mention Amazon. Online shopping is great for beginners who aren’t comfortable buying in public and more range in sizes. Plus their easy return policy if something doesn’t work for you. I did recently discover Temu you mentioned in one of your later videos. I have yet to receive my first order. Fingers crossed. Keep up the great work and i look forward to more of your videos

Etsy is my friend. As someone who NEEDS oversized clothing, high street clothing stores just don't work for me. Many of the makers who work through Etsy will do custom sizing and/or have the weird sizes I need for things to fit me. I don't mind loose clothing, as long as it's a flattering cut. Helps both hide the lack of bust and the oversized belly. Can sometimes be a tad more expensive than high street brands, but being used to shop for male clothing in specialised stores already for going on 20 years that's not unusual for me. For me, I've found especially Bulgarian creators to have stuff I really like. Does mean I don't get a hundred tops, 50 skirts, 30 dresses, and 20 pairs of shoes, but I buy what I buy so I can mix and match to have different looks with a smaller number of pieces. One word of warning though: shipping times and cost can vary considerably depending on where you and the seller are located, and customs can be a real pain between some pairs of countries.

Hi Paola, although I love your videos, whenever you recommend stores in America (I appreciate the fact you are from the US!), it is actually meaningless to anyone living here in the UK for example. I have shopped in Target and really like it, but again, it is no use to me being here. But, I am sure folks in the US will find your advice very useful. Keep up the great work!).

I think that image advisors are best for the type of clothes will suit you best, and whether you live full time as a woman. What we should avoid are cross gender specialized stores, those stores are grossly overpriced and very poor quality; I admit there must be stores that do not practice like that, but most I have seen just take advantage of the distress that closeted cross dressers experience when they buy their clothes.

When I was about 12 I used to wear my sister's clothes and then at 16 I decided to get my own. It was very embarrassing going into a store and asking for women's clothes and saying I was buying my girlfriend a dress when really it was for me. It was so embarrassing so shortly after I started buying clothes and shoes from catalogs and I do it to this day. Thanks for the video.

I remember being about that age and riding my bike to the mall to buy a pair of hose. There was a hosiery store back in the day called Parkland Pantyhose. Sadly I got a flat tire on my way back and had to walk my bicycle back. It was around 2.5 miles back

@@tiorobot Talking about walking long distances. I heard a crossdresser on KZbin say he decided to go outside 'dressed' and wearing very high heels. He decided on a walk ('bad idea'), and he'd walked 2 miles. BUT he had to walk back and by the time he got back home his feet were 'killing him'.

When you said Dillard's, I was like, "Dillard's? 🤨 What the heck is Dillard's!" Sorry, I'm not from the South; I'm from Minnesota where we have Macy's instead. I guess you could have said, "Avoid shopping at your local luxury clothes stores," because every region has some clothes stores that are only found in that region, like Dillard's is to the South. Also, you did not mention Amazon, Kohl's, Target, or Walmart which are also great places to shop on a budget. Other than that, great job on this video! 😁

Hi Paige, I am a fan and may have missed something along the way of watching your videos. I am wondering about all of the underlying issues, such as what are your future plans with your wife? What will happen once your hormones take over your ability to perform? Will your wife need a partner outside the marriage? Will you explore a male partner? Will you and your wife be exclusive with each other? Just something I really wonder about when someone transitions what they see as what they will look at in their relationship moving forward. Not trying to judge at all, just very curious. If this is too personal, I understand,..

Related question: Does anyone know where a good place to get your ears pierced is? Will just any tattoo parlor work or are there better options?
@keirfarnum68112 жыл бұрын
Go to a body piercer. They’re much safer and hygienic than getting it done at the mall with a gun. They’ll use a piercing needle, which is shaped with a double bevel, like a syringe, to cut cleanly through flesh. The gun types used in the mall just poke a stud earring through and there’s a much greater risk of contracting hepatitis using one. It will be a little more expensive though (probably $50-$100 depending on where you go); but it’s worth it. They will heal quicker and it’s definitely safer. P.S., the cost would include jewelry, which for ears would be a simple, thin body piercing ring. P.P.S., some piercers do work in tattoo shops. Just make sure they have good training behind them. Most do. They often pride themselves on using better techniques for hygiene than doctors.

Ms Paola those are all excellent choices but remember it really helps to educate yourself on materials certain materials are to be only war with certain things the same thing with you know with what time of the year it is. When going to thrift stores being educated on the makers of materials top quality always ends up in a good experience because most people don't even know the top quality of clothes that make her the names they just see things that they like which is really great but to sit there and see something that's $800 selling for for $40 is a great investment because it's usually made of excellent material which lasts a lot longer. But I'm old now and in the past but I just thought it was a good thing to educate yourself on a lot of things really before you even think about making investment in the new wardrobe.

Most retailers don't sell size 10 shoes and boots!😳
@keirfarnum68112 жыл бұрын
Size 10? Lots of places sell that size. There are plenty of genetic women who have larger feet than that. Unless you’re talking about male size 10; which would be equivalent to about an 11.5 women’s. Even then, I have known women (cis) with feet up to size 13 W; there are certainly places to find such sizes. A lot of eBay retailers do larger sizes.
