Another great video. I've had to come back to it a few times for reference or to help others out. Keep up the good work.

This is a cool method. I have lakes that I want to ID according to their size. I think I will export the table, add the IDs in excel and then join it back.
@GISChops Жыл бұрын
You can now copy records in a table and paste them into Excel. It’s pretty handy. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

@@GISChops cool! Thanks! Would be even better if you could copy from Excel and paste into pro...maybe

I haven’t tried that. I’ll have to give it a go.

Awesome video ! Super useful. This sequential numbering tool is available in a web map published at Arcgis Online ?
@GISChops4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jose for watching and subscribing! I believe sequential numbering is only available in ArcGIS Pro, but you can probably edit your feature layer in Pro and use it that way.

Hi there. Thanks for the helpful video! I'm wondering if its possible to create a sequential numbering for multiple polygons in the same layer. Ex. Polygon A = 1-60, Polygon B = 1-60, Polygon C = 1-60, etc. Other than creating new layers for each polygon, is there a way to do this? Thanks for the help!
@GISChops Жыл бұрын
I think you can. Have your sequence be 1-# and your starting number be 60 and the increment be 0. It will put 1-60 in any polygon that intersects your sketch.

Thanks for this great info! Is there a way to do Sequential Numbering based on how the data is sorted in the attribute table? For example, numbering polygons based on their acreage size
@GISChops Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! You would have to write a script in the calculate field tool. I’m not sure if you sort based on a field if it keeps that order when it calculates the field though.

Hello thanks so much for the video. I new to gis and I want to count parking spaces within a polygon and every space is mark by a polyline. I've been looking for videos to solve this but I coulndt fine one to see how it's done. Can you do a video with this please?
@GISChops3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know that you could get a count within a polygon if the spaces are drawn using polylines, unless they had an attribute with the parking space number in it. The best way I know to track parking spaces is with a point at the center of the parking space. Then you could select points that intersect the polygon to get your count.

is there a way to import a .dwg subdivision and have PRO cut out all the lots easily vs doing it manually?
@GISChops6 ай бұрын
I have seen demos where the lines from a CAD file are copied into a layer in the parcel fabric and lots are built from those lines. But the bearings and distances for the lines are computed and don’t always match unless you get the rotation and scale factor perfect.

But what if I want to number a huge amount of features by location? Is there a tool that performs numbering according to geographical sequence?
@GISChops3 жыл бұрын
I’m thinking you might want to try a spatial join, then a field calculation.

Yeah i'm trying to do the same thing...I have multiple sewer basins that need the sequencing to start over for each unique one. For now, i've just been selecting out each basin individually, but it'd be nice if the tool or a python script could cycle through the basins.
@kristineshepherdson9286 Жыл бұрын
The problem with this tool is that, when parcels are irregular and you're using a "snakes-and-ladders" order to number them, if you accidentally just hover over an already numbered parcel, it re-writes the number. It would be great if the tool only numbered the parcels we placed a vertex on.
@GISChops Жыл бұрын
That can be a problem. To get around that, I just stop and start again. The tool keeps track of the last number and picks up where you left off. I will do my parcels in groups if the numbering is sporadic.

Is there a way to quickly place annotation such as lot numbers or parcel numbers sequentially that isn't based on polygons? It's very tedious when I'm trying to map a subdivision for the tax office and create lot numbers and parcel numbers by clicking create each time, edit the text, place the text, then start over. It would be nice if I could sequentially just place them one after another with it going up in increments. I'm new to the pro. It seems like annotation was a lot easier in ArcMap
@GISChops3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching April! I'm assuming you are creating annotation to label features that already exist like a polygon layer of lots. I don't work with annotation a lot, but I did find this in the docs: "You can type the text string in the pane or use the context menu to replace the string with a label expression or field value from a layer in the map." That context menu is activated by right clicking where you want to place your annotation and choosing "Find Text" and selecting a feature, or pressing N to cycle through the features. That documentation is here: pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/create-annotation-features.htm Another way I was thinking of getting annotation from existing layers is by generating feature linked annotation. You do that with this geoprocessing tool: pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/generate-feature-linked-annotation.htm - this allows you to set a label expression that populates the annotation text. Hope that helps!

Can the sequencing be like sections, number ordering from left to right?
@GISChops3 жыл бұрын
It can. The sequencing follows the sketch you draw, so you could do the entire township in one sketch - drawing it in a back and forth pattern.

Is this tool available in ArcGIS 10.3 version?
@GISChops3 жыл бұрын
It is only available in ArcMap while editing the parcel fabric (that I am aware of). And I'm not sure if it goes back as far as 10.3. You might be able to find an add-in that mimics its behavior though. Thanks for watching!

I found this long video with no verbal description - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXvKpYeLpbqNra8 It shows you how to get your features into a parcel fabric and then use the sequential numbering tool.
