I'm sitting alone in the dark (and in the entire house) with Space Time by Gojira playing and went to pause the song to have the breathing in the beginning of the video unexpectedly play... I was so sure at that moment I was dying... Greater appreciation for life!

This is the first Lovecraft story I ever read. It is such a wonderfully visual story! I LOVE Lovecraft's vivid wordage.

*shudder* The wind whispers through a half open window as Gisburne reads the accursed story. I lay in bed with dark shapes gathering in my mind like black clouds in a brooding night sky, as I write this final page. My mind has gone, and now I have nothing but a dying pen to tell the story of my demise. The video was the final touch, the last blow to my already flimsy belief in a rational world. Now I know of that which lies outside the world. They are coming, and I am weak now. Farewell.

@Danmill23 I wish it was as easy as just reading the whole thing and uploading it, but the amount of editing I have to do is horrendous! Those maddening words can be real tongue twisters!

Your voice is now the voice I will hear in my head when I read Lovecraft, and similar stories.

I predicted the end as soon as he entered the lit castle. I was not surprised at the end. would have been a good one tho. still a decent story

@MrWilum It's always easier when the story is as good as this one, which is one of my favourites of Lovecraft's work. Glad you enjoyed it.

I've always liked this more than even his popular Call of Cthulhu story. I think it's the personal nature of it's presentation that works better in my opinion.

Lovecraft really was a genius....

The original story that gave us Lovecraft's race of ghouls. They're really a tragic race - so often they're born from or raised by humans, but over time their bodies warp into these twisted creatures that are shut away out of fear. Those who become ghouls live long, lonely existences until they find others like them.

It sounds like a Poe story, doesn't it?
@Hoodinator175 жыл бұрын
Philip Mann no. Hp writes so much better. Clearer more eloquently and thoughtfully. Poe is good tho. Also that’s just my opinion cheers

@Danmill23 I recorded 'TSofRCarter years ago, for a friend, but that was on really old equipment so it's not good enough to upload here. I might do it again one day. Most of these stories I've never read before until the day I recorded them, and once or twice the recording has actually been my first reading! I'm just about to record 'Hypnos' - the mic is in front of me right now. I've had to turn the mic sensitivity down - by putting more energy into the readings I've been maxing out the volume!

@Danmill23 Sorry, yes, it's a bit too long. I'm thinking of recording something of that length at some point, but I'm building up to it. Chances are that I'll do 'The Lurking Fear' quite soon, which should be about an hour's audio. I'm keen to see if I have the stamina for it, before I go on to record something book-sized.

Love your work. I'm sure you've heard it already, but you've got a great reading voice. You should look into doing Radio or Audio book work :)

What question are you asking here? The words are English. I am English. Did you not understand the words?
