Emmanuel Thibault (born in 1974) is a French dancer
After early studies with Max Bozzoni, he was admitted to the Paris Opera Ballet School and was educated there.
At the age of fifteen, Thibault joined the Paris Opera, thereupon becoming a student of the ballerina Noëlla Pontois, with whom he continues to work to this day. Appointed Soloist (sujet) at the age of seventeen, he was appointed Principal (premier danseur) following the Internal Promotion Contest (Concours interne de promotion) on December 23, 2004.

He is wonderful. For anyone who wants an example of a "musical" dancer, he is it. Every aspect of the music, but especially the beats within a measure with or without rubato, is illustrated by his movements and phrasing. The music is deconstructed as he dances. For me, that quality of "musicality" is the bridge between the very good and the great. And phrasing, as in opera, is everything.

Have you seen this?? Emmanuel Thibault. Le Papillon 1/3. Paris 1994. He looks fairly young but I have no date --

If i could take only one peasant pas to a deserted island with me, i would choose this one. I loved it in 2006 and i love it even more now. We will never forgive POB's administration for letting Emmanuel to retire as a principle (not as a etoile), will we?

He is isn't he .. And see how musical he is .. Not just a jumper and spinner he feels the music, rides it flows through it .. Much of that is the training one gets at the POB .. Nureyev was an incredibly musical dancer!

Excellent. How refreshing. After T. Pas de deux by Balachine, this is the pas de deux I danced second most (38 performance a year of Nutcracker for 18 years excepted, for obvious reasons) I really liked this. Far more appropriate costumes, lighting and décor. His pas de chat in the entrada are "perfect" holding the turn out in the second leg and really reaching passe. His smile brings joy. His technique is excellent. Please note how he closes his asslemble fifth back in the air immediately at 04:07 Wonderful and most difficult at this point in the variation. Now note the very cute antiquity they put in. The very old preparation for his last pirouette in his first variation at 04:31. I can't tell you how this thrills me. He goes through 1st position and then does tondu FRONT to find his fourth to turn from. Oh the charm!

Emmanuel Thibault a pris sa "retraite" hier 13 juillet 2017 sous les ovations du public. Et sans jamais avoir été nommé Etoile. First, thanks for uploading. Emmanuel Thibault was a marvel the POB never gave what he deserved. Is it for financial reasons (sponsorship)? when awfull dancers (male and female) have been promoted during the B Lefevre area? If it is for other reasons I don't see which ones. Today François ALU is receiving the same treatment, being a premier danseur since...2013, and being the best male dancer the POB has had for long. They should have kept Benjamin Millepied, (who named only one etoile: Laura Hecquet, which curiously does not dance a lot since AD is the new directrice de la danse). And A Dupont should do what she had said she would do when was going to retire : write books for children. The POB is going to die.

When they do these double dances the miracle is the guy . . . his strength and long limbs. They ought to do some rehearsing with 'her' behind him so that she can become VERY familiar with what's happening with him. There is often lack of synchronicity and HE'S the miracle that should dominate.

the only one j can known who made arrangements of ballets-music is John Lanchbery but it seems here an other ballet-music , dancers known but dont read Y Tube comments so impossible undersrand here .

This is from the POB the booklet that came with the DVD says "This DVD is based on the version performed at the POB in 1991 which is in turn based on the St Petersburg version of 1887 and was (adapted) by PATRICE BART and EUGENE POLYAKOV, two out-and-out Petipa specialists. The scenery is the work of Alexandre Benois from 1924; originally designed for Diaghliev's Ballet Russe, it heralded the re-emergence on Western programmes of the long absent Giselle and remains to this day the benchmark for the traditionalist version of the ballet."

judith booth I found his dancing to be extremely light-footed, light-hearted and quick, as though he was from another world. In other "Giselle" I watched, the peasant dances were more heavy and slower. Maybe it's also because of the way the music is played.

@@Mercurio_volante Being light-footed, and quick is what all the best classical ballet dancers aspire to. If you saw anything else previously, you attended a less-than premium performance. I've never seen this danced better than by Thibault, who was poorly used by the POB and whose artistry remains highly treasured even years after his retirement.
