Dear Giselle. I am a 61 year old woman located in Denmark, Europe. It has really been a blessing to find your channel. The simplicity of life. Growing your own food and preserving it for winter..this is what my grand mom did, and we are lacking these skills to day. And first and foremost, praising the Lord in all things. God bless you young woman of faith. 🌹

I honestly think the advice of getting to know your partner and making sure that they’re right for you before you get married is the best thing to do no matter what culture you come from. I appreciate what I learned from this video. ❤

Hi Giselle. I'm actually writing you from not too far from where your spiritual ancestors started Hutterism! It is with both pleasure and some sorrow that I watch your videos, as my dear old dad (Simon Evans) researched Hutterite life in Canada for most of his life, and he would have LOVED to have seen your videos. Sadly he died a few years ago, just as he was about to publish a big book about the Hutterites in North America. I ended up being the one who edited it and helped it get published, so I now know way more about Hutterites than I ever thought possible! I think for many people you guys still can seem quite mysterious, and there are still a lot of misconceptions, so it is really amazing that you are doing this. Obviously you cannot be a spokesperson for the entire huge community, and there are SIGNIFICANT differences in terms of "strictness" between the different Leuts, but it really helps build bridges to the outside community. I've just been writing about the persecution of the Hutterites all over Europe for several hundred years, and it is so nice to see you being so free and happy and healthy and having so much fun. I often wish I had been born Hutterite... but I wasn't, and now I'm FAR too lazy! Thanks for your great work.

Great idea! I would be interested in hearing more about what you think of the size of your colony, like- what do you guess would be better and worse if your colony was bigger or smaller? Smallest colony you've known? Are people from other colonies ever "borrowed" for a few days or weeks or longer to fill a job? And, how many other colonies have you visited? Just some questions that come to mind!

I really enjoyed listening to your answers. Your traditions are not so different from other religions. I was brought up Catholic and the wedding vows for most include “until death do us part” so the church will not marry a divorced person. The only way to remarry in the Catholic Church is to get an annulment. Take care Giselle and enjoy life❣️

I’m not sure how I found your channel but I am sure I am enjoying learning about your community. You are an incredibly competent person with an amazing range of skills. Your videos are so well done, from the camera angles to the subjects to the sound and the all important editing. Professional level. You have a great eye for the small details and the bigger picture. I have a few questions related to the community. Who makes decisions such as building more houses, upgrading the business? I know you have discussed where your funds come from but I am wondering about the funds for the first class kitchen equipment and the construction projects and the food and other items to supply over a hundred people. The assignments are divided by gender, so what happens if you want to work in the fire truck business or a young man wants to work in the garden and kitchen or other domestic task? You are clearly capable of learning any trade or skill. I can see the appeal of your life in community, and many of your viewers express how much they would enjoy it, but we are not used to having jobs limited by gender…. at least in theory. I am old enough to remember when help wanted ads were divided by gender… but that went away decades ago. I understand if you do not want to respond and I hope I have not offended.

You are adorable. I'm so glad I ran across your channel. You have such a gift of communication and photography! 💛🍁 Firstly, I'm so glad to hear about adoption, as we are all adopted sons and daughters. It's wonderful to see children in need of homes--as well as those who long to be parents--can have that opportunity. 😊 So I have a question, and it's not to be confrontational at all. If you don't mind please, how does the community deal with domestic abuse, or adultery? Are couples required to attend counseling, or in situations of violence, do the police get involved? Or is that never a problem? I'm not standing for those simply getting divorced, because of not taking their marriage seriously. Not at all...but as you know, historically women (and men!) had to suffer for generations in certain circumstances, and that only led to each generation being affected. Sigh. And though the scriptures mention adultery as a means, some churches/communities were "sort of at a loss" without literal words in Scripture about abuse/violence. (Experience in my own faith community.) It took a Pastor from a different denomination, to point out that when a spouse was abusive, they had already broken their vows--just as much as in adultery--because they weren't loving/respecting their spouse the way Christ loves us or the church. So then the other spouse had grounds to leave and move on. He also made a point to remind us about grace--between all the parties involved--and between them and God. It was an eye opening view for me at the time. Sorry this was lengthy, but I think you can see why I didn't want to leave it so black-and-white. Thank you kindly! 💜🌻🙏🍁

Do you have “hope chests” in your culture?? I grew up in a fairly traditional evangelical family. My grandfather was pastor of our church. On my 16th birthday, I received a handmade cedar chest. About three feet deep, five feet long. I filled it with things I “hoped” for. Dishes, linens, a few special quilts and some baby clothes. As well as books, and other special items. I’m 34 now, my husband is building one for our 16 year old daughter. It’s one of the things that I wanted to continue.

Thank you Giselle! It is always interesting to learn about practices in different communities. I hope you have a great week. I watched a video about marriage traditions in Tibet and have been fascinated by the differences across the globe.

I'm so excited to see your fall leaves! Where I live we don't get fall leaves. We are still wearing short sleeves and using air conditioning. Thanks for the interesting video.

Hi Giselle, do nonmarried people continue to live with their family forever, or do they move to their own building on the colony at some point? Do widowed people live on their own?

Well hello! Welcome back Giselle and I hope the break was very much needed…& something interesting that came up at my job that I had learned from this channel was that a few days ago while at my job that I saw a few ladies came into my job that that were dressed like yourself n had the shauls that were black w/ white poka dots on it n were speaking similar to what I heard from the episode you made speaking your language….it was pretty cool

That is so interesting i'm guessing you are in Alberta or Saskatchewan (i could be wrong) but because you said shawl with poka dots that's what gave me the thought. 😊

@@gisellewaldner9406 There are many in the Saskatoon area that I know about - they come to the local mall near where we lived. (we have moved back to Europe where my husband is from after spending 18 months in Saskatoon, but I myself am from Alberta. I lived in Saskatoon previously, before I was married.)

Lovely to see you back again. Interesting video thank you. It is lovely that all the brides and grooms get the same wedding celebrations. No expensive extravaganzas for the wealthy. It is getting colder with darker mornings here. We have had some rain but nowhere near enough. But some nice sunny days. Forecast seems to show you going into the negative temperatures this week. I presume you have been working hard to get in your crops and set things up for next years growing. Your winters are so much longer and colder than mine. I have a question, how do you keep warm in your thin dresses, do you have thicker winter ones, or do you wear thermal underwear?

We wear a lot of layers during the winter months. Yes we are working on getting in the crop we had a heavy rain last week and it set us back a few days but we are at it again 😊
