Try this simple 2 in 1 idli dosa batter and enjoy soft dis and tasty dosas too !
Inhredients
For Batter
Green moong Split 1/2 cup
Urad dal 1/2 cup
salt to taste
For Brinjal Pumpkin Gothsu
Brinjal 200 gm
Yellow pumpkin 200 gm
Red chilli Onion Chutney
Oil 1 tbsp
urad dal 2 tsp
Bydagi chilli 6
Guntur chilli 6
Onion 2
Tamarind a small piece/1/2 tsp tamarind paste
Salt
Oil 1 tsp
mustard seeds
urad da 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves a few
For Gothsu
Oil 1 tbsp
Onion 1
green chillis 6-7
pumpkin 200gm
Brinjal 200 gm
Tomatoes 2
Salt
Turmeric powder a pinch
Tamarind extract 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves a few
Oil 1 tsp
mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
dry red chilli 1
hing powder 1/2 tsp

Gita ma'm normally the skinless urad dal is used to make idli or dosa but can we use split black urad dal (with skin intact) to make idlis and dosas, it will increase the fibre content, you see. As you might already be aware we use the whole black gram (black urad ) to make dal makkhani and some other north Ind Indian recipes. I wanted to ask you this because you are an expert

You just need to smear oil and keep it .This is my mother's tava, older than me too ! I don't do any special seasoning !

Gita ma'am hello. I am 44 years old. I was diagnosed a pre diabetic in August 2023. I owe a lot of my life and health to you. I am from Bihar but raised in Salem. Breakfast without idli and dosa was inconceivable for me. Your moong dal idlis and jowar dosas were therapeutic. You made sure I did not have to resort to sugar medicines

Hi ma'am....one doubt here. doesn't the moong smell when we let it sit to ferment ? Would like to share my similar recipe here. 1 cup whole urad with chilka 1 cup jowar 1 cup any raw rice 1/4 cup murmure 1 tsp methi Wash n soak all together , grind n ferment n you get wonderful idli n dosa .
