I really enjoyed this one boys, you guys are genuinely really positive for the community. I think you make some good points about GD, especially the discussion around the quality of the models that didn't get a trophy. People really put a lot of pressure on the end result, the win, but the reality is, the actual journey of painting is so important. I also think what gets lost is that these events are a celebration of the hobby. It's about seeing and sharing work at all levels, and that's really special.

100%. There's so much around GD, and other painting comps, but the people and community will always be the number one selling point. Now, when can we get you in as the official hype man for all events?

@@phoenixminiatureart4193 absolutely. We are at a point where I would love for them to extend the range of models they photograph. I think they had 2 photographers present and I would love for them to photograph the pins too. So much talent and creativity was on those shelves!

zumikito is the one to get me to want to paint better. You guys then elevated that to more than just painting an army and more into display pieces. I am still learning things and trying to get everything down but I will continue to push myself

OMG it was so nice to meet you and gz to magnus. I htink what Magnus is saying is somethign I started doing, I paint what i want how i want and if it's ready in time for a competition then i'll take it but if it's not then no stress. It makes painting a lot more fun and makes it easier to push myself and do extra work I didn't do before when I had the deadlines. GD is always nice for seeing friends and meeting new people so Im glad you enjoyed that side of the community as well! There were tonnes of really nice pieces that didn't get anything but the level of painting was just supersuper high this year, it's a shame GW doesn't photograph everything like they do at smaller competitions, and have a post to celebrate everyone as well as the winners.

Hey Froggy! It was lovely meeting you too! I think your method is probably the only way to keep your sanity in the long run. Paint what you love, take it to comp if you want to, and try not to worry what the judges think. It seems we've had a barrage of negative GD videos recently, which is a real shame as the people and the community aspect is such a highlight. You're right about the photos though - it'd be great to see everything!

Is it normal to put 800 hours into something? how many hours are required to win?

It is defo not the norm, but you see people do it. It isn't required but obviously the more "perfect" you can do a paintjob the better the chance it stands. Judge take tons of things into account, and sometimes you don't even really know what they are looking for

No it's not normal, that being said style, size of the model and stuff like that play into how long it takes. That being said people people trying to do something exceptional well take the time it requires.

Drove Magnus around for 20 hours, made sure he didn't get run over, and that he got his daily Redbull+Radler. I even made sure his Demon got home safe in my car - Still, neither Bruce or Magnus will tag me on Instagram, damn :(

Do the judges give any feedback to the entries that don't get awarded? I feel like not knowing what you did wrong is a real killer of motivation to try again.

With a lot of competitions, a degree of feedback is somewhat expected if you seek it out, but GD is fairly notorious in that no feedback is offered or expected really.
