Enchanting music by a composer whose sense of melody and joy equals that of Rossini, except for the guitar and chamber instruments instead of the voice. Talking about opera, Giuliani's variations on the playful march from Donizetti's "Daughter of the Regiment" (2:36:06) was especially engaging. These are loving, beautiful performances.

Who knew that America's Mayor was an accomplished composer for such delicate forces?
@gorankatic40000bc2 жыл бұрын
@tortue de la nuit it's a common mistake but Mauro's 1785 born younger brother Rudy, now at the ripe young age of 237 years, is indeed an accomplished composer himself. Between his political career and various state concerned side jobs he is one of America's greatest symphonists - passing through early classicist symphonic works before his teens (symphonies 1-7), then his developing teenage works often overshadowing Beethoven's (symphonies 8-17), then the alleged musical assassination of Beethoven during 1812-1827 period (symphonies 18-24). Later early, late and postromantic periods were also under his looming influence. It should be noted that some of Rudy's students were Mussorgsky, Stravinsky and Schoenberg where he solely developed their styles and they just copied what he prepared for them in their books. They regularly went to him every 10 years for the rest of their lives to pick up what he prepared for their next stylistic development. Well if often happened that he sent them home with "Nah, you're good, nothing for the next decade." They offered regular money but Rudy accepted only old Austrian gold (sometimes even main silver) thalers. Once he got tired of serialism in the 1960's and knocked down Boulez in the first round of their highly publicized boxing match in Guinea-Bissau Rudy invented American and European (spiritual) minimalism. In the meantime from 1827 to 1970 he managed to compose 414 symphonies but during last 52 years he concentrated on concertos for various instruments including construction work toolkits and machinery, and many piano sonatas. Now the whole world is expecting his 415th symphony which is anticipated to be the summation of his life's work. Yet he is still young and who knows what would next 400 years bring regarding the maturity of his composing style.

That's at least five people on this page have made the same joke - I knew Americans sometimes have quite a basic sense of humour, but sheesh! Is it really so irresistibly amusing that two people in the history of the world have that particular surname? Did you know there are also two Hitlers - Adolf Hitler, and Dave Hitler, the milkman? And btw - 'America's Mayor'??
@gorankatic40000bc2 жыл бұрын
@@paddymeboy America's Mayor is today a honorary title that has its roots from the time when America was only the Jamestown. Today to be awarded with America's Mayor is a honor way bigger and more significant than Infantry Combat Badge, Medal of Honor, Silver Star or Purple Heart/s.

It is an oil on canvas titled The mole at Portici (1818) by Joseph Rebell. The choice of an Austrian painter with a south Italian scene is a reversed analogy with Giuliani, an Italian composer in Wien writing in a classical style.

I wish I was married to a flautist or something, one that plays recorder.... because I really don’t like the sound of the flute that much, but recorder sounds power good to me. lol
