Unsubbing after all these years just like I unfollowed Sarah on Instagram. She's done to me and so is any channel that platforms her. It was her own words that did it. I couldn't believe it. Normally I wouldn't even say anything but honestly, you've got few enough real subscribers now that the channel is in decline that maybe one of your staffers might actually read this and think "SHOULD we have platformed someone who decided they were totally okay with religiously motivated 'revenge' genocide just because they were upset even though that same person was against the exact same thing after 9/11?" A little introspection maybe.

Same, celebrities seem to think they are owed their platforms/power/money, but there are certain lines that when crossed can't be undone with any amount of apology. Promoting genocide in a country that is all too comfortable with that and is actively enabling the genocide is such a line. (I mean if that's not such a line then what could possibly be?)

My instinct is that the podcast is focused on women's voices in media as a priority. I think I can guess from subtext what you find objectionable and I don't disagree about the horror unfolding there. However, I'm not certain about the impact that deplatforming has and I really like Sam Bee, but I won't claim to be right. I've not heard the comments myself (I don't do social media and I'm not from the US so may have missed something very egregious). Personally, I think I'll wait for Sam Bee to be problematic but support whatever choice/action you feel you need to take, in the context of supporting adjecent media platforms

Every time my sister did something that qualified for therapy I pointed it out it took five years to convince her to go to therapy

When I quit smoking 19 years ago, I set a quit date. I needed to prepare myself mentally. Then 10 days before it, I cut down on smoking by 2 cigarettes each day. By day 10, Monday, April 5, 2005, I was completely prepared in my head, completely committed. I did quit that day, and have never smoked since. After 24 years!
