The point is he is using them to this end, not serving them to their own good. He destroyes what he loves the most. He will find that as he lives this way. It looks good, but is ultimately empty.

Very true, I use to be like him but instead I was blind and not aware that I was living that way. I lived 17 years of my life for myself, desperately finding ways to make me happy. Searching for things that would make me whole, living my life by how I felt and never by truth. Believing that there was nothing wrong in life. One day that soon came tumbling down on me, I was having serve panic attacks and God revealed the truth to me. That the way I was living was wrong, the way I treated people was wrong, that the only way I could have a fulfilled life was threw him. He woke me up, and here I am now building a relationship with God trying to follow his commandments, all Glory to God for that. Jesus is our king and he will return.

That's a fair point Billy, not all of us are lucky to have a loving family, but I'm sure that kids at an orphanage are loved by the people who look after them. People go to prison for a multitude of reasons.. there are rules in life that we're all aware of, and if you break those rules, you can end up in prison, that's a sad fact of life. Yep. He is young and has prob been well loved & provided for by his family. But anything can happen in life, give him another 10, 20 or 30 years and Im sure his family & friends now are not gonna all be the same, nor all be there for him, heck they could be dead, betray him or he himself could get a deadly disease. Then he might question what he puts his faith in. Also, what would he say right now to orphans, or children terribly abused by their parents. I could go on. Cliff did a good job. I hope this young man goes away & thinks about it, I hope he searches the truth and finds Christ. I am 41yrs and I have had all sorts of pain, trauma, unfairness, betrayal...and Christ is the only rock in my life. I have hope, peace & joy through Him...it cant be found anywhere else - not long term anyway. Look at the world at the moment, corona etc....I have peace, because Jesus said in Matthew that these things would be coming upon the earth. We are getting closer to His return. If you dont know Jesus, please seek Him, pray and ask for Him to reveal Himself to you. Read the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John in the bible to begin with. Read the book ' The case for Christ'. You are valued, loved & have a purpose. 💜

Of course you could be right, but, what I'd ask you, if he came back tomorrow, in some small little town somewhere in the world, how are you going to know its him.. if a man claimed he was the son of God, would you believe him? .. Good to hear he has a good relationship with his family but there will be a day that will change. How can you put your faith in something that can one day change. That change can have a negative/adverse impact to your life causing depression, sadness, anxiety etc. develop a relationship with God like your family and see if you notice any difference. He came across as a pretty rational and logical thinking student, Cliffe seemed a bit taken aback when he said he had no desire to live forever, saying it was a scary thought, i tend to agree with him. What Cliffe views as an awful finality to death if you don't believe in God, many of us dont see it like that at all.. it'll be akin to having a nice long sleep that never ends... that seems pretty cool to me. When you think about it, you go into that state every night when you are in a deep sleep and not dreaming.. when you wake up, you dont freak out because you can't recall being in a conscious state.. you just accept you weren't aware of anything for a few hours.. it's natural, .. well, when you die, that non-conscious state goes on a bit longer .. forever in fact.. but you wont be aware of it. Enjoy the time while you are here if you can.

bonnie43uk Jesus said by their fruits you will know them. Fruits not words. Fruits. Actions is how you truly know a person. People that have no desire to live kill themselves. They don’t speak about it. And that is just a subjected limited view of reality not one that God speaks of and promises. Bonnie sleep is not the same as death. Do not kid yourself. Many people have had NDE which after changed their lives forever. Sleep alone does not do that. Sleep is a natural process I enjoy life everyday and I give thanks to God for it.

@@onestepaway3232 You are absolutely right that sleep is not the same as death, i was simply making the comparison that when you are in a deep sleep state, as we all go into at some point at night, we're not aware of anything. It's my belief that death will be pretty much the same.. we wont be aware of it. It's nothing to worry about as far as I can see. Again, you are correct, sleep is a natural process. So is death. I think where we differ is what happens to us as conscious beings when we are 'dead'.. you believe there is some type of afterlife. I dont. I did however strongly believe in NDE's about 30 years ago.. i was convinced by peoples testimonies. Over time however, I began to realize that NDE's can be explained by science, when our bodies suffer trauma of some type, it can trigger off endorphins in the brain, which trigger a chemical that cause hallucinations of the type we hear about in these NDE's. Make of that what you will.

bonnie43uk How should the body react when the biological clock runs out? Not sure how that is a convincing argument. You are a biological machine made up of various systems all working together. Do you know how many systems your body has? Seems because these systems during death does different things it proves there is nothing beyond death. Seems you put a lot of faith on science to answer where you came from and where you are going. Problem is science cannot demonstrate or show you that. Why can’t you see your thoughts bonnie? Why can’t you see physical processes create things? Why are these mechanisms hidden? Why can’t anyone make a new flower seed from any form of matter? You know create something new from matter around us

I'm not a scientist, there is a ton of stuff that science doesn't know, science, as I'm sure you know, is simply the process of working out how things came to be the way they are, and how they work. Because we don't know, religions invent answers to these questions. I'd love to meet the guy who wrote Genesis whoever that was, .. for it's time, it was a pretty impressive effort to explain a lot of things. As science has gone forward though, we've been able to answer a lot of questions that have superseded what was previously believed.

This was one of the best episodes I've seen in a while, the student gave Cliffe a good response to his question " What are you living for, and what is the evidence that what you are living for is true?". It's kind of an odd question because we're not born with an ultimate purpose, life is unique and different to every single one of us, it's subjective. No 2 people are exactly the same, but as human beings, we want to thrive and have a happy life, there is no single 'goal', it's different for every single one of us. The student answered it well.. i think. It was good to see them smile and shake hands at the end. You can have an opposite opinion and still respect eachother.

Indeed. I'd like to think I can still be friends with someone who is a Christian or a Muslim or holds other views which appear to conflict with my current understanding of reality, especially as I was with them once hahaha lol. Cliffe often asks those questions "what are you living for?" and "where is the evidence for it?" and, yes, they are interesting questions, as well as tricky ones to answer and this particular student gave reasonable answers on this occasion. The problem I have with the way Cliffe asks these questions is he seems to be trying to use peoples difficulty in answering those questions as an argument for his position by implying that if someone is struggling to answer those questions, that this is a great reason for them to think "oh well, I might as well be a Christian then seeing as I have no more evidence for what I am living for now than I do for Jesus Christ". As far as I am concerned, even if someone turned around and said to him "well, Cliffe, to tell you the truth, I'm not living for anything much and hands up, the little I am living for I've got no evidence for", that still wouldn't get Cliffe any nearer to justifying Christianity like he seems to think it does. At best it would be a last-resort desperate "what have you got to lose?" argument and you could use that argument for Islam or any other belief systems. Cliffe tries hard though, I'll give him 'A' for effort, I wish the God he believes in would make even half as much effort to talk to us all as Cliffe does but it seems like this God prefers us to play along with his "they seek him here they seek him there" games and let an old book and people like Cliffe do all his talking for him. Yet we are told that at some unknown time in the future this God is going to come out of hiding and judge us for doubting his existence, which makes even less sense lol, it's like, God will say to us "why did you doubt I was real?" and we will reply "well because you didn't show yourself to us like you are now so how could we have known for sure?" God will then say "that's no excuse, in the fire you go", this is supposed to be coming from the "most infinitely intelligent being of all" lol.

Living for the joy of living is a good enough reason to live i think, ..there is so much in life to enjoy, if belief in Jesus does it for you, that's great, go for it. But there's a ton of reasons to live. Did you see that documentary on the Hubble space telescope on BBC2 last night John?... what an incredible achievement for mankind, and what incredible pictures of the universe it's sending back for us to see.. watch it on catchup if you can. The whole story of Hubble, and us having to go back up to fix it's lenses was amazing. As that kid in this video said... we invoked Gods throughout mankinds history, to try and answer questions that we knew nothing about.. believing in a God filled that gap, ... but as science has found out more and more, we don't need the God answer now. Well, some do, and some of us don't.

You're contradicting yourself. You say we're not born with an ultimate purpose, but then you, quite correctly, asserted that we tend to happiness. According to Natural Law, that's what our common goal or purpose is - to achieve the happiness that satisfies our deepest innate longings. It happens that we search around for this highest good and some of us due to one circumstance or another find ourselves stuck and addicted to some type of finite good that doesn't satisfy this natural longing. And because we can't imagine our lives without that finite good, we cling to it even when we are experiencing its side effects. In such misery, we convince ourselves that maybe we are not meant to be ultimately fulfilled; that there's nothing like ultimate happiness. Those who are suffering and have no hope of ending their suffering will see no reason to continue living and therefore end their lives. When a person rejects Jesus Christ they reject God. When they Reject God they reject perfect Good, perfect justice, perfect wisdom, perfect purity. So this is why they go to hell. They by default accept the opposite of those things since those things are from God. Jesus said "You are with me or against me"..there is no middle ground. Hell is locked from the inside. So they are not rejecting just words Jesus Christ. They reject Good and instead accept evil.

I have not even watched the video yet, but the comments are horrendous. The confusion and doubt on here is thicker than usual. Even different Christians on here are sounding like agnostics. The Bible tells us the closer to Christ's Coming, the more scoffers and haters would exist such as in the Days of Noah. God is Real historically, physiologically and Theologically. Cliffe, I just chanced upon some of your videos recently and although I respect you as a fellow human being, I think your ideas are ridiculous. If by any chance you happen to read this comment, please know that what I write here is not based on just one video but on the general content of several of your videos. 1. You use the word evidence very loosely. You also have a tendency of time and again bringing up science and somehow drawing parallels to the bible. As I am sure you will acknowledge, science is testable. Experiments are performed day in and day out, papers are written, peer reviewed, critiqued etc to test the validity of scientific claims. Is there any way to objectively test beyond a 'reasonable doubt' that God exists? I do not think so. 2. You may or may not acknowledge this but religious upbringing has a lot to do with geography. In other words, where you were born. Had you been born in an orthodox middle eastern family, your faith in Islam would be as steadfast as it is today in Christianity. Ever given that a thought? 3. All religions claim divine revelation, the only path to heaven etc. Most definitely they cannot all be right about it? I don't even wish to expand on this. I think you get the point. 4. One of the things that you constantly ask people - 'If not for God, what gives meaning to your life? How do you know what you are living for is worthwhile and true?' (These are not your exact words but near enough). What does this question even mean? In my case, I am a pianist and playing music each day gives meaning to my life. For others, it can be spending time with their families, pursuing a hobby of whatever else. Who are you to tell them that their life is any less meaningful than someone who believes in God? If anything, there is more proof in the fact that something like music or family gives us happiness than to believe that an invisible man up in the skies loves us. You also say that you've asked several intelligent people about what gives meaning to their lives and you have found their answers embarrassing. So, I guess besides being preachy you are also judgmental. 5. You often say atheism is despair. Well it is not. If making the most of this life is what you label as 'despair' then go ahead by all means. Sometimes I wish I was a part of these crowds so that I could interact with you face to face. Anyway, the next best thing was to comment on your video.

I'm not Cliffe, but I have seen him answer these issues. 1. Cliffe usually refers to the Gospels for evidence, not the Bible as a whole. Cliffe defines evidence, as do I, as information that points to a conclusion. Cliffe does acknowledge that science is testable. However, the existence of God is not a scientific question. It's a philosophical question. So no, there is scientific test to show God exists. We cannot show you a liter of Holy Spirit or a 10 milligrams of grace. Instead, the question is "What best explains the reality that we have?" 2. So, there are no Muslims who became Christians, no Christians who became Buddhists, no Buddhists that became Hindus? Everyone is just stuck believing whatever mommy and daddy told them was true? The vast majority of atheists in the west grew up with some sort of religious parents. Why does your theory not take them into consideration? 3. Either one of the religions is true or none of them are. That's correct. Actually, it's refreshing to hear someone say that instead of saying "All religions are equally valid.". The question is what is the evidence for what you believe? 4. You made a couple points here. I'll get to the main point in a second but first, let's judge your incredibly judgmental statement that finding someone's statements to be intellectually dishonest or lazy or illogical is judgmental. Are atheists the only ones allowed to judge what other people believe without being called judgmental? Is there something about being judgmental is inherently wrong? Certainly not from an atheist worldview, nor from a Christian worldview, so what is the problem? Also, I'd wager a guess that you don't have a problem with judgments, just judgments you don't like. I seriously doubt that if a woman came up to you and said "You look really nice today" you'd respond "How dare you be so judgmental!" Let's try to be honest in our objections, please. Ok, onto your main point. You're a pianist and creating music for your friends, your family, and those around you gives you meaning. Ok. Now, what if, God forbid, something were to happen to your hands? You can't play piano anymore, or most instruments for that matter. According to you, your life is now meaningless. Not according to Christ. According to Jesus, your purpose, your meaning, your value is not based on the ability to play piano. Instead, your purpose is to love and worship God and to love and serve your fellow man. You can do that with 2 hands, 1 hand, no hands, as a paraplegic, quadriplegic, as an athlete, as a fat gamer sitting at his computer. 5. And how is making the most of your life any different from not making the most of your life if there is no God? What is the difference? You're here 60-80 years then you're gone, forgotten, everything you build, everything your worked for turns to dust, people eventually don't know or believe you even existed in the first place. So why not be a lazy bum who makes nothing out of his life? Or how about this, yes, be successful in life. Be a successful drug lord responsible for millions of deaths and countless people suffering. Have billions of dollars and live a nice cushy life until you die, never having been convicted of a single crime or having spent a single day in prison because you have the best lawyers. If atheism is true, evil wins. Hitler got away with genocide. There's no justice for him. If atheism is true, then MLK Jr's reward for all his hard work was the same as Abe Lincoln's: A bullet to the brain. That's dispair.
