I know people point to the Steelers game as the turning point, but Love had flashes the entire season. The 1st TD vs the Broncos where he sidearms it through 3 sets of hands and while he was lucky to get the TD, the ball was on the mark. Also the Falcons game where he threaded it in front of the DB. As someone who became a fan of this team in the 70's, my generation had to endure pain and suffering so the younger generation would not. As someone who grew up in those dark days, in an area where over ninety percent of the football we got was Vikings games, it amazes me that the team had the turn around that it has. That disastrous Mandarich draft got people fired and stared the Bob Harlan era in town, and he was the one who really set the team on the path to success. It's much easier to stick to a process of doing things when you don't have a megalomaniacal owner calling the shots, otherwise I'm surprised that other teams don't try and apply some of the same principles in their team and franchise building process, but then, they are lucky, and what they do probably wouldn't work in another market. BTW, great episode, guys. You got youreself another subscriber.

Matt LaFleur never gets talked about, basically. He's so behind the scenes because of how much Aaron Rodgers dominated the Packers press and now it's all about Jordan Love. People don't realize that they just win because he's an insanely good coach (on the back of McCarthy's success no less!).

Matt LaFleur is a very boring guy in terms of how he interacts with the media, so we get the impression that he's kind of a boring coach, too. But he's very sharp, passionate, and when you piss him off, he will light you up. Kurt Benkert can tell you that.

I just find it amazing that the Packers have been so well-run for over 30 years. Great coaching, great front office, smart roster construction, excellent quarterback development, and so much more contribute to the Packers' long-term success. Hell, the Falcons are trying to copy them by having MPJ sit behind Kirk Cousins. I also find it amusing that so many teams dog on the Packers. Maybe fans should learn to understand the downfalls of their own teams rather than showing their obvious jealousy of the Packers' success. "Jordan Love is gonna suck. There's no way the Packers will get away with it again." - Every NFL fan who is not a Packers fan.

The Packers’ whole business model is sustainability and maintaining on of the NFL’s oldest football brands while sticking to tradition. Not having a sole owner who has his paws in everything and having a thorough business structure and public ownership beholds them to do right by their fan base.
@ricardorivera75492 ай бұрын
@@kghostthegreat hmm not quite. not having an owner does helps us maintain some stability, but also having an owner would makes us more aggressive. for example, i bet an owner would have never drafted Jordan love, and would have forced us to pick higgins or pittman and maybe that would have resulted in a SB. who knows. or an owner would have fired joe barry 2 years ago since one of lafleur's weaknesses is that he is too scared to fire his friends, and he also tends to hire his friends. And some owners get along great w the players, while Gutey has a bad reputation w the players. most players that leave the team hate gutey.

I think the first half/second half conversation is a bit overblown for Love. Love was solid in the first month of the season. The first month was amore limited offense. Not just because of Love but because the whole offense was so young. Then as the playbook opened, Love started to struggle. I think the mid season was a lot of LaFleur adding plays, then pulling back, then adding again. I think it got to a point in the second half where LaFleur and Love just decided to open the whole playbook. They probably weren't winning a Superbowl and putting the toothpaste back in the tube was just making a mess. So they agreed to finish the install and prepare for 2025. That came with trust from both of them and I think that trust is what snapped things into place.
