shabliy is at least in the top 5 best lightweight in the world right now. his striking and power are elit, he is fast and explosive and his takedawn defense is also elit. By the way he trained with arman for his last two training camps for usman. Even Islam said shabliy was at least top 5 after he beat and outclassed tofiq and pitbull. Shabliy vs poirier and geathje is 50/50 but with a slight edge for shabliy because he is in his prime unlike poirier and geathje who are older now.i also think he beat oliviera. So usman beating shabliy is a great accomplishement.

Clearly, Usman’s camp and coaches respect Shably and his abilities. Their approach against Shably imo was similar to Umar vs Sandhagen. Kept the distance, kick the legs, try to counter the jab but instead Shably waited and counter back with the overhand hooks, and attempt a takedown under 2 mins to secure the round. Shably imo did almost the same thing Sandhagen did too. Stood in the middle to avoid the fences and the takedowns, didn’t pressure or engage instead looked to counter and defend the takedowns, and waited til the last round to pressure and do something.

Very good performance considering usman is still young and developing his skills plus shabliy is a dangerous guy terms and at the very least a top 10 lightweight in the world. Nevertheless boxing and its different techniques is obviously one thing usman needs to work more on and make it stronger, I didn't see him attempt one over hand right even tho there was many openibgs for it all night. Being comfortable in boxing distance is very important to be a complete striker. Javier mendez on his channel yesterday hinted that usman came into that fight with a few injuries, so honestly it was a great night for the team all thing consider.
