So, here’s a fun fact: On all the give up screens where you die by spikes and such (turning into .exe form), if you give up, then any additional characters on screen (knuckles or tails), when it fades to black and then white, the additional characters stay on screen (albeit, faintly). I don’t know why, but they so. If you don’t believe me, rewatch one with tails and/or knuckles on it and turn your brightness to the max, and focus on where they were.

Give Up: Tails is dragged into the ring. They disappear into it, it turns red, and Tails is decapitated. Sonic.exe walks slowly behind Knuckles and skewers him in the head. Eggman is attempting to run away, but Sonic.exe slowly catches up with him, and does a midair spin dash and splits him down the middle. Tails is running from what seems to be continually switching between Sonic.exe and Knuckles. Tails keeps going and is skewered by a wall of spikes. Sonic.exe has Tails over a cliff and a pit of spikes. Sonic.exe rips his tails off and Tails falls in.
