So much Respect for the Mkharhi family to expose themselves like they did in this interview. The Main objective must not be missed, it's for the two to NEVER go through what they went through, then secondary it's for the public to learn positive lessons from that. Accountability doesn't mean Punishment, and it seems to others it means Punishment hence the outcry. Dropping of Charges doesn't mean NOT accounting for Given's actions, but could be the change in How and Where he accounts. People must take this positive lesson from this, "Accounting for your actions doesn't mean going to Jail(Punishment)".

This man is missing the point. Look at how he is holding her hand. He wants to be a public figure when it suits him, dialogue with a president of a whole country, yet wants to plead privacy when it suits him? When you assault someone, even in your home, the matter is no longer between "Given v Ipeleng", but "State v Mkhari" in court. It goes against the morals of society that there could be assault, a case opened, and then have the matter resolved privately. Given does not realise that he is a powerful man who is not assuring anyone that he is not abusing his power. How can a media boss fail to answer straightforward questions from Thulas? This is a mess! Did he think because Thulas works for eNCA, a partner of this event, was going to sweep under the rug the elephant in the room?

I am just so puzzled how they are neither denying or accepting that there was abuse in their marriage. Everything they're saying sounds scripted and pre-planned. Also, every time this man speaks his wife's face doesn't even show support. And when she speaks, his face screams "Recite what we practice" with incorporated hand movements. They don't seem like people who are happy with each other. I don't know what's going on in this marriage but clearly something is wrong. They keep defending the fact that they're "human" and that they're not perfect like they were defending or justifying allegations made against them. One last thing, they're not even standing up against GBV or assuming any opinion about it and that seems to be a problem for me coming from people of such status.

I have a problem with thulasizwe line of questioning of the couple. It gives the impression that Ipeleng, because she is woman, is incapable of making her own mind about her relationship. In as much as women needs this organizations advocating for abused women, they should, however, be careful of not stripping those same woman of the power to make their own decision about their marriage and family life because most often these women understands better what dynamics are at play in her household. Ipeleng appears to me to be a strong and intelligent woman who knows what to do and does not need these organizations to be breeding down her marriage. For goodness sake, do we ever stop and think for a second that it is not only about the couples, but that there are children involved? What this organization should be focusing on, in my opinion, is in providing a supportive environment where abused women and even the men can go to for help especially if they feel overwhelm and cannot make the right decision. These organizations should avoid trying to imposed on the already vulnerable couples how they think the problem should be resolved.
