There is so much in that infamous 17 second scream that Chester does. It says so much without actual words. So often I have found that it never fails to comfort me, in my darkest hour, night or day. It shows that other people suffer too. When somebody wants to talk to you, talk with them. If somebody wants to hang out with you, hang out with them. You never know what somebody is going through. As someone who had an episode of reactive depression after a friend's suicide, I understand what Chester was getting at. Sadly, many people with depression are good at keeping it to themselves. Even when they speak out, as Chester did, others often don't know what to do and how they can help. Also, people rarely think the depressed person will kill himself or herself. It's the whole that only happens to other people thing. Thank you, Chester. You screamed for me when I couldn't and helped me feel less alone. You are missed.

Also, even though it's not easy to do, any skilled vocalist will be capable of holding a note or tone up to at least 20 seconds in one breath. So, it's not as inhumane to pull it off as some people assume it to be. Regardless, Chester was an incredibly skilled singer & he proved it everytime he went out on a stage to perform.

I find it strange that many people never realized how dark this song really is.. In time of my worst depression I'd listen to this song to vent out my frustration at myself, "I'm my own worst enemy, what the fuck is wrong with me?" I felt like Chester knew exactly what I was feeling and wrote this song during those times.. I'm literally heart broken knowing he didn't make it though and that he took it upon himself to end his life. I can't imagine just how bad things were getting for him and with no one to listen to him he finally gave in 😢

who could really have helped chester? let's say mike shinoda..... okay, what chester was ASKING is something mike didn't want to give him out of respect. chester didn't want to be friends/bros.... he wanted mike to be his father figure and spend a lot of time with his "son"..... this was due to chester's bad childhood and he wanted mike in the father figure role in his life. chester literally asked mike, "will you be my dad?" in the 2017 interview at live nation uk. mike literally answered, "yeah."......... but it was awkward. if mike did act like chester's dad.... that's enabling weakness and also disrespectful to chester's autonomy. mike really didn't want to admit or live the reality that chester was THAT broken. music was just cathartic and helpful and not enough.
