At age 10 you can be left at home alone (with a younger sibling) and at 12, I was babysitting all the kids on my street, I was the oldest kid by 5+ years the year I turned 12. Made bank though !

Hey! I’ve listened to the pod for a while now, but recently I’ve been listening waaay more frequently. I’m loving the content. I’m currently on maternity leave after having my little girl, I actually have had a lot of PP aniexty and some days it’s hard for me to even get out of the house. Butttt this podcast has really helped me and motivated me to go out for a walk with my baby and dogs- listen to the pod for a good 40 minutes and walk! You guys are funny and just relatable. I literally feel like I’m listening to a conversation from my friends. You’ve helped me and motivated me to get out more often. Keep up the good stuff, and love you guys!! ❤

I love this! I asked her months ago without a response, keep up the good work by continuing to ask until she finally addresses her prior claims of Tupac taking over her body 😭

Aloha from Hawai’i nei🤙🏽 2 notes: There are some places like here where it is still legal to ride in the back of a pickup, if you’re over the age of 12. But it is a common thing to see a truck bed full of kids of all ages on a Saturday on their way to the beach. Definitely not the safest but it definitely happens. Also, condensed milk over shave ice definitely was not invented by the place you would go to in Utah. It’s common in Hawai’i and others places where you have AAPI communities😊

I lived in the country so everything lol… In the back of a pick up truck with all my cousins, uncle driving and going over bumps and railroad tracks just to see us fly up and down. Texas life… Also riding horse bareback with my uncles once again fucking with us and smacking the horse as hard as they could for shits and giggles to see us react. Thankfully no one ever got hurt lol

Playing by the creek when I was 6-10 years old. Lost so many shoes, watching them float down stream in horror! Knowing I was gunna get it when I told my mom! Never a spanking, just massive guilt trips! Climbing into abandoned houses with broken windows and floorboards gone! Yeah, it was great growing up with no supervision! 😂❤😂

Not just in the country! I grew up in L.A. (Sherman Oaks) and during the early 1970s my older sister, who boarded her horse at Studio Stables near her high school in Burbank, would frequently ride it along with her HS friends on their horses through the L.A. streets. Since it was (and still is) an equestrian neighborhood, several of those streets had equestrian trails like alleyways through the residential areas, but I think those trails are gone now. I was probably 6 or 7 (she's 10 yrs older) when we both were on her horse and went through the Jack in the Box drive-thru to get food. Very common back then. You definitely can still rent horses at Studio Stables and other nearby stables and ride along the equestrian trails throughout Griffith Park (during HS my friends & I frequently took the moonlight ride guided horseback tour). As kids/teens ('70s & '80s), we would also ride our bikes, skateboards, and roller skate to/from school (1.5 miles away) and all across the SFV wherever we wanted to go all day long completely unsupervised. We'd even ride the RTD bus from the Valley to Malibu Beach by ourselves with ZERO adult supervision! Fun times!

I feel like the year or two after (us and our bros are the same age) is when they started to put the hammer down on things like riding in the back of the truck, which we totally did in my dads truck. He also owned The Weed Man (lawn care company) and this was in the 80’s and 90’s where there weren’t many 4 door cabs on a pickup truck so the guys would just hop in the back to move on to the next property whether 5 or 20 minutes away 😅

So many things we did where I think, I shouldn't even be here lol BUT had THE best childhood! Knew to come home home when the street lights started to come on. Moms would yell from the porch if you weren't home yet and THEN you'd better get home or else. From age 5 me & my friends would just play in the neighborhood alllll day long going from each other's houses. Rope swings in the woods, exploring the creek, bike riding all over, allll the way to the DQ across the bridge and next town over, and racing down the big hill by our houses where we literally went into an intersection...Winter was just as fun as we'd go out and sled ride or just play in the snow and never be cold. Everyone's parents worked and we'd just hop from house to house with eachother. Small town life was really great in the 80s. Parents were strict but let us be kids because it was more innocent then & neighbors watched out for us. We didn't know what scary things were out there like now, but we were taught about being cautious, not going with strangers, etc. So many things I could add as i got older that were nutso too 😂

In WI if you take a safety babysitting course(CPR and such things) you can legally babysit, kids outside of the family at age 12. That's outside the family, so I'm curious what age they say you can babysit your siblings and cousins. 🤔

When I was 10yo me n few friends climbed a 697m rocky hill formed from pound quartzite I made it to the top n the quickest way back to camp grounds was to jump a 1m gap onto the hill next to the one I was standing on..scary but I done it. Im still here so I made it. Still spins me out today when I think about it. What a drop.❤🇦🇺
