Poor child...can't even attend school. This breaks my heart so much. I was born in Can Tho but my parents are originally from Hue so this hits home for me. Anyway, I'm glad you're able to find her again and help her out a bit. I'm thankful for the donors as well. I'm not financially well off right now and because I grew up lacking so much, I became quite selfish with my money. I did forked out more than a $100 in the past to help those in need but of course that's nothing. I still feel really selfish. So I wish to change that about myself and make an effort to be more generous this year.

This is not a good example at all, it is cruel. USA is 200 times richer than Vietnam but those communist leader from vietnam are 200 times richer than Obama and Clinton. The kid is not a good example at all, because *Vietnamese kids worship their leader for nothing.* So what is there that you think this is a good examples for all the teens to look up to.

Very inspiring work mate. Here's my suggestion if its' not too much work: give the cash in the front cover of an interesting book. Its' a concrete gift that will last & it gives you the option to include your email address so the kids can maybe contact each other in the future. Now thats' a good story-line!

At 6:27 as she shuffled along only turning around briefly to display a smile of jubilation, she was ecstatic from receiving such a large amount of money. I'm only assuming, but in her mind she's probably thinking of how elated her mom and dad will feel when she gives them the money. Most likely, she will not spend the money on herself as most westerners would but rather, she would give the money to her parents.

Keep up the good work, Troy, a recommendation to your response during this video regarding making a list of few people that should receive contributions. I believe that for the young kids like the Ben Thanh kids you have to take down their information so you can follow through a bit more easier rather than relying on a miracle (when Duyen found you in the dark when you were looking for little Linh). I still believe a little contribution here and there to a small group of children will help tremendously so please continue to give to those Ben Thanh kids when you can, I am not sure if you had given any to Duyen but if not please do it when you have the next opportunity. Thank you so much for your efforts in doing this and hope everyone can support you on Patreon.

@jackyyehh8 жыл бұрын
That's often circumstance for many Vietnamese families. That was also my thoughts at first. Her tone asserted this vibe within me and lead to that comment. However, when looking back; there could be other reasons too for e.g the father could be disabled, ill and is unable to work. "Looking after the house" is quite an ambiguous line actually. I could be misinterpreting, hence I push you to not take my comment too seriously.

@@Thyalwaysseek you're definitely right, especially with what troy said about these kids having zero self pity. they won't realize the horrible effects of basking in the sun 8hrs a day everyday, when a hat can really make such a difference but they won't spend money on it.
