Interesting stuff, I dug my pond about 28 years ago and I've never Done a thing with it. I've been watching (and will continue to watch) with interest to see these upgrades and the overall effects of your efforts! Maybe I'll be inspired to actually improve on mine... Thanks Brock pc

Yeah, that’s how I think most people do it. I didn’t like the thick muck layer and I didn’t like it being overgrown with lilies. I also want it to be kind of a center piece of the property if we can get the Christmas tree farm up and running

A couple questions/observations: 1. Why didn't you use your kayak to put that further out in the pond? 2. I would think the bucket will interfere some with the water mixing/reduce stratification effect then if it actually sat on the bottom.

I have a similar pump. I set it up in a tote like you did, but I set the tote upside down so the cover was on the ground. I drilled a few holes in the cover for drains. Next, I installed a crawl space vent on the side of the tote. The vent is louvered and has a screen to keep out bugs and mice. a rock set on top of the tote keeps the wind from tipping it. It has worked fine for years...except the one time a bear tipped it over and scattered the parts around. My daughter in law saw him do it from the living room window. Apparently I need to add a steel bear cage to my setup. Well, you can't foresee every scenario!

I have the exact same motor and aerator, I just throw the air stone in my muddy pond and take out in spring as I use a large fountain in summer. Anyway never has the mud stopped the air flow, works great. nice video and thanks. PS I just ordered a new JD 3046R with cab, loader, backhoe and some attachments. Can not wait to get it.

One thing that I've always liked doing with plastic pipe is use a torch to heat up the pipe so it slides on better.

Thanks for sharing. I thought about it if the grease didn’t work
@GothaleKancho Жыл бұрын
best to dip it in very hot water for 10-15 seconds. Using a torch/lighter warps the pipe.

You will lose some air pressure when you run an air line that long. Best to extend the power source and set up the air pump near the pond.
@AlexOvechkinSucks Жыл бұрын
Yeah electricity runs with a lot less resistance along a copper cable. The long length of pipe creates way too much resistance and the pump will be constantly under a heavier load.

I used a fake plastic stone for my cover and used sprayed foam for insulation. Set the fake rock on top of bricks in the summer ,for the winter makeup little path around the cover with pea gravel so it can still get air. Also to get my aerator in the middle of the pond I also used a rope. but I tied a goose decoy on the end to make sure it's where I wanted it. Made it so much easier to move when I was in my little row boat.

Unrelated to your current video. Dump trailer question, will your 2038r fit in your 12 foot dump trailer with the bucket and quick hitch installed? Looking at a 14 footer but if I can get by with the 12’ it might make more sense.

Where did you go for the extension of regular air tubing? I have quite a long run from the house to the pond, which runs through a pasture. Need quality and affordable tubing to run from pump at house crawl space to pond (about 500 feet), then switch to weighted line. Any thoughts on how that long of an air run will affect output underwater?

How long can the air line be? Our pond is at the back of our property and electricity is at the front end. Wondering if there's a cap on how far the electrical can be.

I've got a pond almost an acre in size. I've thought about buying a windmill but also considered electric. My question is , my pond is 800 feet from my home, will a 3/4 hp pump push air and be effective for something like that?

Aerators do not really add oxygen to a pond, the pond surface does that for you. However, the aerator rotates the water around. Aeration and where you place your aerator really does depend on how hot your summers are and what type of fish are in the pond. Remove any trees that drop carbon into the water in Autumn as this is the biggest issue with sludge etc.
@RockhillfarmYT9 ай бұрын
Surface agitation aerates the pond. Aerators cause surface agitation.

We have a .4 acre pond about 7-8 foot deep. Looks similar to yours. You used the LD 1.5 which would be considered undersized according to the website specs. Does the LD 1.5 adequately aerate the pond or would you recommend the HD 250?
@RockhillfarmYT2 жыл бұрын
I gave them the measurements of my pond and it is about 6 foot deep. My pump is just barely adequate but I went ahead and went with it because I’m also going to add a windmill aerator when I get the bridge put in
