Seeing this show in person was so badass. Such a blessing. Also, I march mello in my schools marching band (SHHS marching toppers 💯🗣️🔥) and it would be so cool to play this role, too.

Pittman's performance in Dance With the Devil was one of the greatest solo performances in the history of drum corps. His performance had liquid steel confidence, and unflinching guitar riffs, at the same time. Great stage presence and maturity, great musicality, and a naturalistic, almost likeable devil character. The irony in this show is that other than being "creepy", this devil doesn't commit any crime that warrants his killing. Yet, the audience screamed with joy at the Devil's demise-- a commentary on society's knee-jerk reaction to standard religious tropes, with not an audience member in sight to consider that maybe the devil is part human-- and his love of music is proof. A complex, spirited show and a one-of-a-kind performance that this kid will remember for the rest of his life.

Did you watch the video, even? He even says that he died in the end as he plays the role of the devil. They aren’t worshipping the devil. Not at all. That’s more Mandarins 2023, but even then, not really.
