Hot bath works okay but I recommend using a hairdryer. Quicker and hotter.

I bought a small hair dryer years ago for that purpose but don’t use it anymore because it blows everything on my desk all over the place

I've not used the dryer method, tho the water will be easier on the plastic. With the dryer, you're spot-heating the joints. Keep doing that, you're cooking that plastic thus making it more brittle in the long run. Water heats up whole area, making the plastic more maleable.
