Would like to point out that the Ferrari wreck is perfectly normal at even small speeds and even when impacted IN TO by other cars at an angle in the rear quarter of the car. It's a design element meant to save the cockpit of the car (or habitacle) from the potential death inducing forces that would occur in a normal (rear engine) car when the motor remains on the cockpit during the crash. There's various design elements that allow it to simply shear off rather than enter the passenger space. Similarly, modern cars with front mounted engines are designed to have the engine and transmission shear off the mounting points and 'slide' under the car along the drive shaft tub (on front engine rear drive cars) or simply shear off completely (on front engine, front drive cars). Just my two cents on this, to some, the Ferrari wreck, seems incredible, it is not, it's a safety feature. A similar, but older car (in design aspects and distribution) like a Lancia Stratos, would probably kill the passenger in a similar crash and the engine would not detach (strong mounted).

Technically Eric (Erik) is his father's name. In Scandinavian countries, the child does not have the same last name as the parents. The child's last name is their father's first name (possessive), combined with either "son" or "dotter". So the last name of the son of Hjalmar would be "Hjalmarsson", and the daughters would be "Hjalmarsdotter". Also, the spelling of dotter varies, it's either dotter, dottir, dóttir, or datter.

Fun fact: If a GPS receiver has been off for a long time, the first thing it has to do I find one satellite, and then receive the almanac from that one satellite. Based on how message data is encoded, it takes 12.5 minute to download the almanac. Once the device has the almanac, it then knows roughly where to look in the sky for other satellites, and can start acquiring more. More modern receivers can either download the almanac from cell networks, or have enough channels (one channel can track one satellite; Gizmondo looks like it can track 12) and processing that they can all just keep searching and eventually find enough.

10:40 - Oh, for the love of God, not that stupid "bumblebee flight shouldn't be physically possible" myth. The calculations behind that were made in the 1930s. They were hastily put together and mistakenly based on principles of fixed wing flight, which apply to aircraft. They don't apply to bees at all, because their wings aren't fixed or rigid, and they utilize a completely different propulsion method than planes or birds do. Chinese scientists performed an experiment in 2001 with more accurate modern techniques, and confirmed that bee flight is completely, 100% possible. It doesn't just happen because "nobody told the bumblebee it can't fly" or some nonsense like that. Do the people who write this stuff believe that bumblebees are literally magic, or what? Yeah, I know, First World Problems, but it just irks me how people still blithely accept pseudo-facts like this without bothering to think rationally. Science is based on observations from the real world. If we don't understand an observed event, that points to a flaw in our scientific understanding, not said event being impossible. If it were physically impossible for bumblebees to fly, they wouldn't be flying all over the damn place. Edit: Some of you seem to have read my comment as, _"The general population is stupid, and I'm superior to them because I know how bees fly."_ This was not the point I was trying to make, nor is it something I believe. I don't think that pseudo-facts persist because people lack intelligence; I think it's more due to a lack of inquiry and too much blind faith in statements that sound scientific. We lead busy lives, and it's hard to find time to investigate every claim we hear, especially if it's being made by a friend or someone else we trust.

The technology here really takes me back. Around this time, I was working on mobile operating systems, and it really took a while for the industry to realize that a multifunctional handheld mash-up device like this really wanted to be sold as a smartphone. Both of the companies I worked for in that sector originally didn't realize that, and lost some time thinking of their product as the OS for a sort of jumped-up PDA and messaging device before realizing "oh, it has to be a phone". I think one of them died in part because it took them too long to make that mental shift. (On the other hand, realizing it is no guarantee: witness the Nokia N-Gage.)

Much like all 'smart' technology... They've actually managed to trick people into paying hundreds to 'bug' themselves, placing video and audio surveillance devices in their homes at their own expense. Then when they leave their home, they are tracked / listened to / watched by their smartphones. I've watched in horror over the last twenty years as 99.9% of people around me have been falling over themselves to usher in a new era of authoritarianism. At no point did they consider not buying these devices. They didn't even question it. At this point I consider humankind to be a lost cause. I can't help but despise my own species for their pitiful weakness. SMH

How you think all these shifty "family" organizations that are pushing for banning everything make money? They usually have ties to ones providing illegal goods and would lose profit if stuff gets legalized... Like during prohibition, people who profited from banned alcohol were the ones selling alcohol and would campaign against legalizing it. Similarly here, of course a KIDNAPPER and extortionist would want to put 24/7 tracking device on children... It's always the kidnappers campaigning for "child safety." In a roundabout way, FB forcing people (especially children) to use real names, real pictures, real contacts etc. makes it a heaven for stalkers. And Facebook's official position is that not allowing children to be anonymous somehow helps anyone but potential kidnappers.
