This was awesome! So glad I started this channel to learn about all these new artists! I'll have to look into these lyrics a little more, but I'd absolutely check this cat out again! Who is messing with Gjon's Tears!? Consider SUBSCRIBING and SHARING to help support the channel and let us know what/who to check out next!

please check out (a) the phenomenal live-vocal performance on Eurovision night and (b) his 2020 entry REPONDEZ MOI, which is of similar sky-high level. (if you haven't already done so). Also, you should investigate the music of French legend Daniel Balavoine (1952-1986), who had a somewhat similar voice and approach. Either "SOS" song of his is a great place to start.

He co wrote the song and he plays piano on it. He can play the piano. He's also an absolute sweetheart.

For the meaning of this song: here is what the German Wikipedia-site say (strangely the english wiki-site for this particular song is almost empty compared to other language versions, only filled withe basic recordlabel stats like chart rankings in different countries etc): (Google translation): In an interview, the singer explained that the song is about the ups and downs of the life cycle and hope. It is not about just looking ahead, but even further, i.e. looking at the entire universe: “It’s a way to say that even if you think you have lived everything, you haven’t lived everything. The universe is so big and you still have so many opportunities and so many things to live. Your job is not finished here. Even if we are dead, we will not have finished what we have to do here.” - Gjon’s Tears Furthermore, it is about that the most important and strongest person in life is yourself and that it is therefore important to love yourself. If you don't respect yourself, it will be reflected in morals. And the lyric translation: Let the wind brush His/her hand over my shoulder The void in my head Not a single place to hide The dawn is fading Behind a field of ruins It’s time to grow up Don’t hold yourself back I see pieces of you behind us And I see what pain has made of me The whole universe Our two hearts under the ground At the centre of the rifts where everything explodes Being at the point of impact Without you What will happen to our breaths If they stay on the shore? This love that wrings us out I see pieces of you behind us And I see what pain has made of me The whole universe Our two hearts under the ground At the centre of the rifts where everything explodes Being at the point of impact Without you Behind my eyelids Get some air Ah (The whole universe) (Our two hearts under the ground) At the centre of the rifts and the aftershocks We will meet at the point of impact How can we heal our exploding hearts The whole universe

You should react to more Gjon's Tears songs. Babi and Repondez moi, both live, are amazing.

Why is every US reactor asking for caption or a translation? This is about music not text.

You actually think that the powerful lyrics in this song, or any song for that matter, are unimportant? 🤨 You realize that lyrics are a part of music? (A lot of times) Almost especially in this song, after looking them up, the lyrics are powerful and important. Lyrics are part of the music. So yeah… they probably also wanted to know what he was saying. 😃

@@NaturalReactions okay let me put this in perspective: this was an entry for ESC 2021, an internationally broadcast song competition with 39 different nations participating. In order to win a song has to reach out to a multinational audience with quite different national languages. So Gjohn sung in French, only spoken in France, Belgium and Switzerland itself, however I’m ESC you cannot vote for your own entry. No translation of the lyric is provided during the broadcasting so the vote in the vast majority of nations is depending on the music not on the text. The “lyrics” are insofar important as even if you don’t understand the meaning you can feel it fit finely the song or not by deciding if it makes you “feel” the song. BTW that also applies to songs in English since despite the fact that a lot of Europeans have a some or even good grasp of English the majority of the audience has not. So in other words, yes in the context of ESC the texts ( which is not 100% the same as the lyrics) is not important. Of course assuming you choose this song because it ended up 3rd in ESC this year, which only had one English song in the Top 5.

You should really use a VPN (even the free google add-on should working) that you’re being finally able to see and watch the Videos of the live performances from the final show wich are for North Americas being usually Landlocked on the official Eurovision channel. because almost everyone of the artists usually increasing the whole performance delivering in to another level wich makes the live Shows always outstanding and much more fun instead lf the music videos (sometimes with hilarious or cringe results because they overestimated themselves and their abilities like this year the singer from spain felt so pressured to keep up with the extremely high notes of the other artists at their performances, so that he spontaneously decided to end his song also withe a banger and on a super high note. But sadly he overestimated his own vocal abilities way to much and when he tried to hit the note as his final his voice cracked on the halfway through and he began to sound pretty embarrassing and almost everyone watching felt cringed but also felt sorry for him with this worldwide live embarrassment
