I was born and raised in North Tarrytown, NY and my parents grew up knowing Carmen. I got to be friends with him in my adult life. He would hear me playing in the churches - weddings or funerals- and would come in to listen to me play. I knew his history and I was honored he enjoyed listening to me play. When he died, his daughter called me. It was Carmen’s wish that I would transcribe an original song of his and score it out for a sax quartet with trumpet. And so I did. And we played it at his funeral.

Dear Dr. Klauber, thank you so much for all the rare and interesting Krupa titles. I am 65 years old and have been an enthusiastic Krupa fan since 1973 ...... And I still hear new and wonderful facets of Krupas playing........

Fantastic arrangement gene featured carmen leggio and I remember reading a story that gene treated carmen very nicely not only pay wise but with respect and dignity. Gentlemen gene had that way about him. Many musicians said he was easy to work for not demanding but just a fantastic drummer in every respect.

Yeah, I can’t find hardly any info on him either. These two tracks are from a Carmen Leggio LP that he released himself.
