Coach Jaya is one of the judges on the Tawag ng Tanghalan (TNT) Singing Contest Television show in the Philippines before... She's one of the Bestfriends of Miss Regine Velasquez Alcasid. She's also one of few respected performer in the Philippines. She's wholesome and has a bubbly personality.❤❤❤

The Philippine singers are a treasure, right!? KZ is a tremendous singer and performer. Her rendition of Say Something from the 2018 Singer show is a classic. Actually, anything from that show is fantastic featuring KZ. Jaya has been a pro for all her life. Here is a tidbit on her time in the United States. "After high school in the U.S., Ramsey became a back-up vocalist to Miami freestyle singer Stevie B. In 1989, she was re-christened "Jaya" and signed a record deal with Stevie B's label LeFrak-Moelis Records and her eponymous first album, produced by Stevie B, was released in the U.S. The album consisted largely of freestyle dance tracks written or co-written by Stevie B, who also provided backup vocals. The album's the first single, "If You Leave Me Now", was a hit in discos and debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in October 1989. After 18 weeks on the Hot 100, the song was still gaining in both sales and airplay[6]-it ended up peaking at number 44 in February 1990[7]- and remained in the Hot 100 for a total of for 26 weeks, an unusually long chart run for a single peaking outside the Top 40. The song did well in many markets but at different times, thus diluting its Hot 100 rank.[6] It hit top 10 in several markets[6] and made it to number one at the crossover powerhouse KMEL. The song hit number 14 on Billboard's Top 40/Dance crossover chart and number 25 on the 12-inch Singles Sales chart.[7] Jaya's follow-up single, "One Kiss Per Minute", was a minor dance hit, but failed to make the pop chart and the third single from the album failed to chart as did another non-album single in 1993."

Discovered KZ Tandingan quite by accident while on KZbin with her Rolling in the Deep cover on Singer 2018. It was absolutely fantastic and have been a fan since. The most creative and versatile Filipina artist and performer, in my opinion. This duet with Jaya is stunning, An absolute must hear is KZ’s Say Something cover on Singer 2018. Many years ago my uncle brought me n my wife to a Freestyle, with then lead singer, Jinky Vidal, and Jaya concert. I wasn’t expecting much. I was more excited about the pre-concert dinner than the concert itself. Boy, was I surprised. Great band. Jaya & Jinky rocked. It was an amazing night. Live band music is always up another level.

A while back pre pandemic, I thought I saw her on someone’s podcast, she said she has been going between US and Philippines to sing at various venues. But never where I could see her. Being born in the 80s, I lived for the 90s Sunday variety shows in the Philippines that featured Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha, Jaya, etc. That was an amazingly memorable era of OPM. I feel privileged I grew up with these legendary talents. 🇵🇭❤️

Yes, Jaya had a career here in the US back in the late 80s. She was part of the “freestyle” music scene and collaborated with Stevie B, a legend in freestyle music! KZ is a big jazz (and Ella Fitzgerald) fan and this is where you see how she is influenced by jazz and why she incorporates all the “scatting” and jazzy notes in her music. Great reaction as usual!
