Jaya is Filipino. Yes, she is mixed though. Her maternal grandfather was Jamaican Arturo C. Ramsey, a United States merchant marine who was stationed in the Philippines. Her maternal grandmother was Marcelina Rivera Indino, a Filipina of Spanish descent. Jaya's mother, a Filipina comedian and singer, was Elizabeth Ramsey, is 1/2 Jamaican/Spanish Descent. Jaya's father is Reynaldo Kagahastian, a Filipino, which makes Jaya, 1/4 black. Oh yeah! JAYA is known as the Queen of Soul here in the Philippines.
