One thing I hated was how trash Lucius was in a fight. Gone are the days where an MC can actually be a total badass and be the best warrior in the film. That’s part of what was great about the first Gladiator. Maximus was a supreme general and peerless tactician as well as being one of if not the most skilled and formidable warriors in the film. His character was a total badass and we loved him for it. Lucius was just a total joke who couldn’t fight worth a damn.

However, like with all sequels, you're going to compare it to the first, and in this case you're comparing it to the winner of the Best Film in the 2001 Oscars, an otherwise near-perfect film. - The plot is lacklustre - nevermind the historical inaccuracies, the storyline is filled with plot holes. - The CGI is beyond abysmal (the monkeys are dreadful!). - The majority of the battle sequences are poor CGI, unlike the first, which were shot practically. - Action sequences were underwhelming and pale in comparison to the first. - It totally suits on the legacy of Maximus's character - In the first film, he is a family man. This film it's revealed he's had an affair... - Derek Jacobi's and Connie Neilson's characters were underused. - Completely pointless and contrived film, that serves as a cash grab. I honestly could go on picking apart just how bad it was, but watch for yourself and make your own mind up.

Yeah this movie wasn’t really all that…Denzel might get nominated for this one but tbh I’d rather go back in time and give Denzel best actor Oscar for Equalizer 2 before this one. He was actually great in Equalizer 2 and that movie wasn’t all that compared to the first one, but Denzel definitely has scenes on the 2nd one that’ll make you look at Gladiator 2 and ask: why he didn’t get nominated for best actor for Equalizer 2…🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
