Didnt see the first one, either. Your summary made sense. I found it to be a bit dull. Too much CGI and the coliseum with water and sharks over the top. Denzel was fine but sounded too contemporary. Paul Mescal was well cast. I didn't hate it, but it certainly wouldn't be a film I would want to view a second time. It's still better than Napolean, but not that much. I feel Ridley Scott has lost sonething as a director, especially doing these epic type films and unneeded Alien prequels.

Agree that it's better than Napoleon! Haha. It feels like Ridley is trying to direct as many things as possible before he dies.
