EDIT: Misspoke about Multistrike, they are not available on Retaliation skills. Will be doing this as a second character, but too risky to league start on it.

"Multistrike Support and Awakened Multistrike Support now describe that they cannot support Travel Skills, rather than every Travel Skill stating they cannot be supported by Multistrike. They also now describe that they cannot support Retailation Skills" - from the patch notes

Rip. GGG too afraid to let these niche conditional skills flourish. Looks like I mistook the M which is melee phys for multistrike. Should probably still be decently viable, but unlikely super endgame. Hopefully we get prob numbers and gems before launch

@@CoffeeBns yup, we need all the gems info, maybe they'll add some cdr on quality, then we can use those skills more often considering there is also cdr on passive skill tree.

im looking forward to doing a retaliation starter. my fingers gonna hate me but i think itll be awesome and a new type of play style. Ill figure it out as I go. would be nice if they added a unique or part of the tree that auto retaliates at least once when blocking or something

I'm kind of glad aggravated bleeding not needed for fast hitting builds since I want lucky block, explosions, and war of attrition (I take a long time to kill ubers). I feel like retaliation is just a reskinned version of the previous counter attacks. Was sort of anti-climatic. I hope they are truly game changing. If the numbers are good like you are saying it might be worth deep diving into. I'm going lucky block and full bleed with pefect agony (no rage)! I hope it works.

FYI they did double the base damage of the explosion of GV from 10 to 20%. The loss in more phys over time hurts dps, but that should be more than made up for with the scaling more damage over time.

I think that retaliation will be great in bossing. You'll need a mapping skill as well but think about thos scenario: Swordstorm + general's cry means 5-6 attack at once. I'll do it with cyclone ad my mapping skill.

i plan on doing retal only on hc so any more findings and tips would be great but tbh it really seems underwhelming. and during leveling they give murauder gems that duelist should get lol. idk what they were thinking with these. glad seems so bad imo. those block nodes really depress me.

The block and bleed pops are nice. Retal numbers aren't looking decent but I expected more given their conditional nature. Maybe there will be a build enabling unique for them

@@CoffeeBns apparently Vengence Cry can be used to loop into Retaliation skills, At least thats what I read on Reddit.

The only thing preventing me from league starting this is the bossing. Let's say Maven or Sirus for example, do I really want to wait for a block every time?

If you play this you don't play with retaliate as your main skill. I'm working on a bleed version right now so main skill will still just be lacerate or EQ, then you have retal for potentially a bigger bleed (hard to say without gems yet or pob), but that is the shell for what is possible.

@@CoffeeBns i used to play self hit vengeance and it was a blast. I noticed a node on the bottom left corner that let us use retaliation skills every 6 ENEMY hit instead and it's a shame because it would have been a blast if it was possible with self hit again :(

@@CoffeeBns this sounds like fun gameplay to me, i may leaguestart this for fun when gems/builds come out and hopefully a leaguestarter video from someone. a basic ability to spam to bleed and dmg etc, then use the retal procs as they come up as you block for the skill(s). for more damage/bleed. soundskind of fun but who knows

sould the Formular for Swordstorm not be weapon damage x2 ? because it hits with both weapons ?

It is updated I nthe formula now. It's 6 hits on sword storm 2 on evisc. They do similar damage but I don't think there will be a second dual wield retaliation

The "Aggravated bleeding" thing is not really easily available outside the Ascendancy - there are no nodes that do it, all there is is very specific and conditional points in Bleeding mastery.

what are you on? There's 2 small nodes that give 25% chance to aggravate bleeding on crit combined 50% chance and there's one that's 10% chance to aggravate on targets hit with attacks as well as 3 conditional bleed masteries

@@KameronEX getting crit isn't that easy tho, especially on bleed builds. other nodes require stun, exert or bleeds that last longer than 4 secs. there's not many builds that can hit 100%

What you can do: inflict a strong retali bleed and then continue to attack with lacerate to fish for the 10%. the big bleed will then also be activated. Or you take the 80% retali ailment duration mastery and the hits aggravate after 4 seconds duration as the duration then is at least 9s for bleed without other modfifiers considered

Without any automatic counterattack moves I think retaliation is gonna feel pretty bad. Now every little white mob around you is gonna have to be dealt with actively by using a retal move where as in the past the weak stuff got cleaned up for free with riposte, reckoning, etc. I still plan on trying retaliation anyway.
