Here Spurgeon speaks of the believer seeking joy from the same God who is sovereign over our trials. Towards the end (43:40 etc) he speaks of the blessing of long-term ministry, and also, autobiographically, of his hopes for the Tabernacle when he has left this world.

Thank you for sharing all these wonderful sermons, God has given the blessing, for its He alone who makes things grow. One plants, another waters, but God gives the increase! Oh I can't count how many times I have been comforted by Our Lord in my very small afflictions! As I walk through the shadow of the valley of death, His rod and staff comforts me , because I know He has done it. Oh how sweet are the consolations of Christ my Lord!!

That is true. Spurgeon seems to have a grip on this vale of tears, but never loses sight of the glories before us!
