I was hunting how to glue small gem stone onto a belt buckle blank. This has been the most help!

Mona you crack me up! I love the way you don't edit out your f*ck ups (dragging your beads through the glue) and don't lose your cool under such pressure. Always look forward to Coaster Friday (which is actually Saturday here in NZ) when I can sit for 5 mins with a coffee and watch. Big ups to ya buddy! X

Thanks for sharing. I'm working on this right now. Using string instead of fishing line made it coil easier and I wasn't happy with how the hot glue made a blob on the cork which kept my beads from laying completely flat, so I didn't use it. Pretty happy with the end result tho.

Very colorful Mona! I'd be afraid the beads would come loose over time. I think it would also look cool if you put it in resin, but I'm sure there would be a lot of bubbles in the process.

Mona, could you use the cardboard coaster you see at bars if you use modge podge on them first
@CraftKlatch7 жыл бұрын
As the backing for this one? I think it might work without the Mod Podge. If you want to put it in resin, I would suggest a minimum of two coast of Mod Podge.

Hi I have tried making at least 20 different coasters with constant challenges. I’ve used different glues, different strings/wires and still having trouble. The string moves on the glue or too much comes out when I try the glue gun. I get more glue on my fingers as if I’m in elementary school. There are even small sections that the stringed beads are not adhering. I am gluing the strings onto round and square pieces of wood. This has turned out to be a very frustrating craft that started with enjoyment. Is all hope lost? What suggestions do you have for me, if any?
@CraftKlatch2 жыл бұрын
I Donna- Sorry you are having such trouble with it! Let's see if I can help you! Here is the project explained step by step with pictures: www.craftklatch.com/easy-bead-drink-coaster-diy-project/ Tips: - Be patient - I feel like wire would be problematic. I used fishing line. - I used a small dab of hot glue in the center just to get the first bit anchored so it won't move. If you are using a regular sized glue gun, sometimes too much glue will come out. The mini glue gun might be the better choice. Again, you only need a little to get the end stuck in place. - I used the glue all over the coaster. I added it as I went because if I put all the glue on right away, it would be dry by the time I would put the beads down. Hope that helps!
@donnamertz62472 жыл бұрын
@@CraftKlatch Thank you for your response. I did buy the same glue you were using and have the mini glue gun too. But instead of the fishing line i was using either beadalon stringing wire which is flexible but doesn’t stay to shape. I also used upholstery thread because my beads are the very small glass seed beads. I wish I could send you a picture.

I think I would have cut the end knot off with enough slack to re-tie a new knot at the end of the last bead glued, for extra security. I would hate to clean this up if it started to unravel.
