Bead along with me. The first in my mini series on making circles in beads, bead weaving techniques, circular peyote
• How to bead weave: cre...
Let’s see how to set off with the first few rows of beads. You will need some Miyuki size 15 seed beads. Later in the mini series come back for using bead woven circles in art, and the pattern for larger circles!
#Miyuki #bead #circularpeyote
The pattern is
row 1 = 3 beads, row 2 = 6 (3x2), row 3 = 6, row 4 = 12(6x2)
row 5 = 12, row 6 = 12, row 7 = 18 = (1+2)x6,
row 8 18, row 9 = 24 = (1+1+2)x6, row 10 = 24, row 11 = 24

You speak so clearly and I’ve really enjoyed your video, however, it would have been so much easier to see if you had used larger beads and maybe a darker colour, not one that blends in with your skin. Just for future reference, I’m a visual learner rather than hearing so I really struggled doing this circle. I made too many mistakes. I actually gave up in the end. I am going to try again though. Thanks for taking the time and energy to share you talent. ❤

Hello, I have been asked about close ups a few times about this particular video, which is about 4 years old now. Since then I have invested in a better video camera. And since I have had so many requests for information on how to do bead circles I plan (when I get a chance) to do another update on this, with better closeups and diagrams. Do try again, it's really interesting when it works, also don't draw the thread too tight, and get good quality seed beads, of consistence size throughout. I hope that helps. thank you for watching

@@Sciart I agree with above comment. Since this is a teaching video using size 6 beads would be most helpful. And colors that don't blend into the back ground. You do a great job. Just hard for visual learners. Thank you

Really helped me get started. My first 11 rows are looking great. I finished it off with 12 sets of picots - 1 11/0, 1 15/0, 1 11/0, thread through next 3 beads, repeat ... to make a star shape. Will there be another video of how to know how to space new rows after this, or perhaps a larger pattern to download and follow? Thanks

Hi! I'm new to bead weaving and this video will likely be my guide into my first project. I've done lots of research online about how it's done, but I haven't found anything about finishing up a project like this. How do you finish your circles? I just want to be sure I'm doing it properly so my first project doesn't fall apart or have unsightly strings sticking out. Thanks so much for the helpful video!

Hello, thank you for your question. The first thing to be sure of is that you need to avoid making knots in the thread at any point in the process. Knots can hinder the progress of the needle through the bead, and the bead can break. The best way to finish the thread is to ‘meander’ through the beads, this way and that, until you feel confident to cut the thread close to a bead. Depending on the size of the bead hole versus the thickness of the thread, this can be quite quick or may take a little longer to do as you may need some more passes through the beads. With good quality beads such as Aiko or Miyuki, then the thread will just be ‘eaten’ inside the beads. I think I should do a quick tutorial on finishing threads and adding new threads to a work. Great questions, and thank you for watching. Do subscribe and stay tuned!

Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, I have used larger beads and a new camera on later videos. The best place to see how to do a ‘step up’ is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJvYonZvqaxjjKM. How do i keep on going with this design to make my circle a bit bigger?
@Sciart
@Sciart Жыл бұрын
Now that is very tricky. It all depends on the tension you use when sewing. It's complicated by the fact that beads will drop into the gaps in the earlier row. It's almost impossible to model mathematically. And beads being variable in size adds to this. I have in fact made a circle of about 14cm in diameter using size 15 Miyuki seed beads. It's a challenge to get it to lie absolutely flat. And by the time you get to 10cm you are at more than 100 beads in each row. Sometimes the cause of a wrinkle can be several rows back, so it is a laborious process. I do think about sharing the pattern, but I'm not sure it would work for others, with different tensions of sewing etc. You can find more here kzbin.info/www/bejne/l32sanuvepmbrMU. I hope that helps. Let me know how many rows you have completed and perhaps I can share the next 5-10 and you can see how you get on?

Could you use this same technique with larger beads to make a circular bag?
@Sciart
@Sciart 4 жыл бұрын
Mmm, now that's a very interesting question. There is a balance between, using larger beads versus the larger gaps between the beads when you use larger beads. Larger beads will increase the size of the circle faster but there will be larger gaps. If you line the bag, which I assume you would do, then the gaps would not be a problem. What you could do is make a circular piece and then simply grow the sides vertically. The only question then is the closure at the top. Really interesting.

@Sciart
@Sciart 2 жыл бұрын
@@louisestevens1755 I was thinking more about this too. You could, let's say, build the sides in a circular peyote. The question then in how to draw the top together if you want it to be a bag rather than a vessel. As a vessel it will probably slump, unless it is reinforced in some way.
