I love when a vision comes together and I learn a new skill in the process but when I tell you this had opened up a whole new door for me... we gone stick a pin in that lol... Next its time to bring life to the office, decorate these walls... plant shop... and finally start DECORATING !! Also, if you haven't already go to Walmart and get some needles specifically for Upholstery & Denim. They're better for the heavy weight fabrics and you don't have to worry about breaking a needle in your machine. Btw, I had a brother sewing machine as well and love that thing!

Are you sure sure sure that you don't want to use a different room for your creative space, as opposed to sharing it with your Home Office space??? I work from home as well and need that space totally separate from EVERYTHING else, so that I can feel like I "left work at work" so-to-speak. You have so much room in your home that you can definitely spread out. Just an idea 😊 Good luck with everything girl!!

You could have folded the fabric like an envelope, sewed down the two sides, then turned it inside out and insert the pillow. This way if they get dirty you can just take it out and throw the cover in the wash. With the long cushion you could have added on a long zipper

When sewing cases for things to go into, you can make it like a pouch so it’s easier to remove pillows, etc. Makes the covers more washer friendly depending on the fabric you use. Also, scotch guard your chaise. Love what you’ve done!

Well done. I reupholstered an armchair last year. It was my first sewing project. Tip. Use the reverse stitch on your sewing machine, so you dont have to manually tie a knot at the end of each seam.

I’m the same as you. When I bought my house I was on a budget for furniture and I went to a hotel liquidation store and got two headboards and painted and reupholstered them myself. They were beautiful.

Just a thought from a fellow DIYer… may a hand held sticher or sewing machine type thing would be helpful. Love the process and inspiration in the office

Gonna give my unsolicited opinion as someone who has been sewing for a while, I don't recommend the hand held sewing machines to be honest. Your best bet is to try swing it up by hand (gonna be shaky at first but you'll get better with practice!). The hand held ones can be unreliable with their stich length and may end up looking hand-done anyway. They can also be more dangerous, especially for beginners. But they are around $20-30 so it may be worth a try. It might work better for you! 😊 Also another channel called BlueprintDIY has a series where she reviews different sewing machines and gives an in-depth review of a hand held sewing machine if that'd be helpful for anyone 👍🏾

I love how you’re willing to tackle any project head on. You can turn the seams on the pillows to the wall and it’ll be seamless. Also when you’re sewing you can press the seams flat then it won’t look puckered from right side. Great job I get all kind of vibes from your projects.

OK I would put that chaise against the wall where you were going to put that desk. Put the desk against the wall where the chaise was. Hang sister girl over chaise, or on The wall where she is sitting, I think I’m a decorator in my head 🤣 and I do a lot of stuff on my other channel pdubstuff. I’m no expert but just looking at the room I can visualize it that way and then you go from there. You are very creative, you’re doing such a great job with your house. 👌🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Chaise 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👌🏽❤️it.

Tip....U could have seen velcro at the end of your pillows for easy acces. Tip....always allow 1/2 an inch of extra material to accommodate the material being used by the machine unless you just want stuff snug as a bug in a rug.🤷‍♀️

Everything is looking awesome. FYI...don't pull the material through the sewing machine. That may cause the machine skip a stitch. You guide it to where you need it to sew.

TIP.....I'm sure u know this already since I'm a whole yr late to the party. But, in the event that you don't, there is a thread cutter already on your sewing machine behind the needle. No need for scissors.

Wash the fabric first. Then make a slipcover. That way you can remove and wash it later. You can also make a cheap pattern out of Muslin that way you don't waste your good fabric.

Peace. Also for making closed stitching for the last section. Fold the fabric pieces 8n and hand sticth so that way it looks similar all around(smaller stitch required)

The ends where you stitched it closed, maybe you should have used a zipper. That way you can remove the cover to wash it, since it's such a light color. But great job. I use to sew many moons ago.

I love it! tip: When you sew anything sew a few stitches then backspace a few stitches. That keeps the fabric from coming loose! You did do a great job! you should be very proud!
