Someone needs to create a longer lasting pointe shoe. It’s ridiculous how much they cost.
@grettahucht56174 жыл бұрын
Or reduce the price. Dancers have to be able to break in their pointe shoes, so I don't know how easy it would be to make something that lasts longer since they are meant to break down a bit.
@iheardyoulikemagic4 жыл бұрын
The cost is because they are all handmade, and since she is with a company they pay for them. There are options for longer lasting pointe shoes, but most ballerinas prefer traditional shoes.
@siershe4 жыл бұрын
Gaynor mindens are a great option they last me about 5 monthes but i only do abot 5 hours a week and they are about 140$
@breonawarren15074 жыл бұрын
To be honest: They last a long time if you aren’t a professional dancer. If you are in middle and high school and you get pointe shoes they last a long time because you are dancing 3- 4hours a day for lets say 6 days a week if that. Professional dancers dance 15 hours a day, 6 days a week maybe more. They are using them more so they wear down faster. The upside honestly is that usually companies will have the girls sign their shoes, donate them/auction them off for charities or fundraisers for scholarships.

This is why ballet has such a diversity problem. Even if you get past the cost of lessons/initial supplies, once you start to get good/old enough, you're going through minimum $200 a week just on pointe shoes. For YEARS. I know companies pay for them once hired, but that's brutal.
@xys7324 жыл бұрын
I may not be understanding you completely, but for younger dancers, we usually only get new pointe shoes once every two or three months, unless your training a lot for a performance. The reason why they go through shoes so much is because they are training so much. Same thing goes for flat shoes, my flat shoes typically last me 6 months to a year.
@amandaskywalker73314 жыл бұрын
You don't go through this number of shoes unless you are at the professional level, at which point the company pays for them. Amateurs don't dance on pointe seven hours a day.
