I used to spend a lot of money on food, but I got my food spending under control by putting myself on a budget! I spend about $200 per month on food (as a single person) and over 90% of that is spent at the grocery store. She definitely needs to eat out less so she can save and invest more. But it's great that she doesn't have any debt. I love these videos.

It’s not that she doesn’t know how to save, she chooses to spend over save. She recognizes she’s spendy so that in its self negates the “I don’t know how to save”. She has a good bit left over after bills to put at least $200 a month aside. The “sometimes I make $3k sometimes it could be $7k” bit is still an excuse. As long as the $3k is her minimum she makes, she can save something especially when she has the income spikes. I love that she’s debt free but that can easily change if an emergency situation arises. Hopefully she gets more disciplined over time.

Looking at her spending, I believe she still can save somehow. She just feels that she MUST spend everything that she makes. She said so herself. "I may make 3000 now and 7000 next month. Great job staying out of debt! That’s hard. Look up “Financial Peace University” by Dave Ramsey. He has a simplified program that helps anyone with any income learn how to manage money and prepare for life’s unpredictability, even if your income is flexible. My husband and I did it, and it’s actually given us the freedom to spend. When you’re able to maintain a budget, you don’t feel guilty about the money you spend since you’ve planned where each dollar will go instead of wondering where it went later.

Eating out used to be my weakness! I easily used to spend a hundred to $220 a week on seamless alone, not including orders of Chinese food and my daily lunch. Once I started going to Trader Joe's, and I cut out sugars and soda, that all stopped. I just started cooking everything, and now I just buy my lunch, which is a $6 salad. Eating out is one of those sneaky things that tears up your wallet oh, you never noticed until the end of the month.
