@@stelity Why question a professional finance person giving her tips to manage a low salary? And career counseling is great, BUT YOU STILL NEED MONEY for that. Professional finance tips would help, because it's not always as easy as saving a few dollars. Career counseling and investing in yourself is important, but when you made that suggestion it didn't come off as thoughtful because how is she going to afford career counseling when she doesn't have enough spending money per month.

Emma Roy can we stop pretending like this girl is poor? She makes $15k a year at a part time job, but still buys trips to Cancun, $70 cupcakes, has a car while living in the city, an EZ pass, AND a Metro Pass, plus a litany of other unnecessarily expensive expenses. If she were really poor she would have bought one, yes ONE cupcake, or got a dozen cheaper ones at the supermarket, restricted herself to the car or metro for trips into the city, not both, and gone to Target or Ross to buy her clothes, not American Eagle or whatever was listed on her receipt. All of this on top of covering her boyfriend's overdraft fees. That's nice of her, but really irresponsible. She does all of this though because she's not really poor. She has her parents bail her out whenever she gets in a bind, which to me sounds like more often than not.

She's got a big heart, most of her money seems to be going to other people and they can take advantage of that. She needs to take a step back and learn to say no, especially to her boyfriend. If she gets that in order, she's got more savings than other people with that same salary, she'll do well. She could get a second job or side gig to save more as a security blanket. Her rent is spectacularly low anywhere in the US, and she can take full advantage of that and save her money. Increases in income does not always automatically mean increases in savings, managing $15k now very carefully will pay off when she does make more money. I know because I've done it.

Also, it's not anyone's job to correct their bf's financial irresponsibility. She has $5,000 in debt! He's not going to grow up and he clearly is not contributing to her own solvency, never mind his!

Point of this video, she's not living independently and relying on everyone else to enable her to spend money beyond her means, allows her to spend money when she's in the negative.

According to her bank statement, she had deposits of $2398.58 and she transferred $150 of her investing app over meaning she is dipping into her savings and included someone Quickpaying her. She used $1538 on her debit card this month. That means she is overspending and dipping into savings. Also, someone deposited over a $1000 in her account, which maybe are her parents, so I'm glad they provided the statement to see how she is spending. It's helpful.

I never really thought of some of the stuff that they give/pay for since it’s always been like this but I never realized how lucky my family is to be financially stable as we are. I just hope that if I ever start a family I’ll be able to give what my parent give. Like I will have the degrees I want without debt because of my parents. I didn't have money to spare for a long time, so I didn't take a vacation for more than 4 years. I still don't have a car and rough it on public transport to save money. This lady’s money management reminds me of myself if I’m being honest. I make more money than her but had to change my habits so I didn’t end up spending most of my residual income on CC debt. She’s spending waaayyy more than she earns which means she’s racking up debt!! I’d recommend she gets honest with her friends about what she can afford, cut her take out spending to once or twice a month MAX. And take that money to pay off her smallest debt first!
