Thanks Katrina! Really encouraging to see your comments, good luck with your project. Talking to folks in TX, it’s a bit easier to get things approved out there.

Loved this! I’m from Asheville but planning a dome in Alabama. I need to try to book one of those few spots you have left so I can get a feel for the size and space. Looking forward to the next video already!

Awesome dome, excited for the series! I'm curious why you decided to downsize the second dome and what you think of the smallest versions from pacific domes and their vacation rental potential?
@BlueridgeGlamping3 жыл бұрын
Couple reasons... our building footprint was tight, fitting it into the available space without overhanging the drop off too much. Also wanted to see what we could do with a little less space, and how folks would like it. So far so good!

So both these domes are set up as permanent structures, correct? Is the second one classified as an accessory dwelling unit, or how were you able to appease zoning/planning with two permanent structures on the same lot? Great content!

Curious as to the overall spend and numbers of a doke project of this level, the smaller one or the 30 foot- obviously based on location prices may vary but curious as to ballpark budget for these- see Pacifica pricing but then to deck it out literally and the bathroom electricity etc...- would love if you could share that

where did you get the plans for your interior modular wall system or where did you buy it?
@BlueridgeGlamping2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris, we designed and framed the interior walls ourselves. Check out the interior design video in this series to see more info

How do I get plans for a small dome to build one myself? County wants a drawing before permitting me. I told them would be primitive, but they still want plans and insist on me having a permit😞 I only want to build a 12' dome first. Thks for any help!

How much did it cost to fully outfit a dome?

What is the price for building your first unit? I found the price of the dome on Pacific dome, but I am not sure how to get an estimate for building the deck. Thanks

What does the total build cost on something like this? Sorry if it was mentioned.

How do you join the deck to the dome material and make it weather tight

Hi, My wife and I have been exploring the possibility of building a Dome here in Charlotte, NC in our backyard as a guesthouse. Unfortunately, we haven’t found a contractor/architect/GC who has attempted or wishes to build a Dome zoned and permitted for residential use. We’ve been in contact with Zoning and while they appreciate the project, have pointed out many obstacles to getting this zoned and permitted for residential use. For the record, we do not live in the mountains or a rural area of any kind. We live in the city; hence, the resistance. Are you aware of any customer or architect that has attempted this? And if so, would you mind putting us in touch with them?
@BlueridgeGlamping2 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, we hear from folks all over the country, and unfortunately your situation is not unique. The zoning/permitting process can be very frustrating. I would suggest exploring ADU, accessory dwelling unit with the county... but it's still not a guarantee, as these structures will not meet energy code requirements. I don't know of anyone else building/permitting them like we do, sorry. But I am happy to walk you through the process and what's required if you want to move ahead. See link in the description to schedule a 1:1 with me. Thanks!
