Is the neck width like a p bass or a jazz bass ?

Thank you so much for your honest opinion, the bass looks and sounds really nice. I also agree about the weak output sound on their pickups too. I own a Glarry 30 inch (short scale) GP bass which looks similar to a Squier Bronco bass & Fender Musicmaster bass, the output sound on the Glarry is very weak which forces me to turn the volume to the maximum and on my bass amp from 2 or 3 0'clock. Again thank you for your presentation, cheers.

Yes for the price this bass is great, the only real major flaw is the pickup output and I've seen this pattern on all of their instruments. Glarry does take their customer feedback very seriously which is why I admire them. People complained about their beefy necks and they finally fixed it with this bass. This bass was also originally named GP without pickguard and I told them to make it a more memorable name and I see they renamed it to the GP Pro :)

The blue finish is pretty striking. It's the finish I chose. Can't wait to try it out

Thanks for this. I have two of the GJazz basses w/ rosewood boards, and have wanted something w/ a maple board. Knowing the neck is different and it being a P style, I might give it a try.

I know on their "nicer end" six string guitars they have Wilkinson pick ups on them. So if you don't want to throw a lot of money into one of these you could throw some of those in there. This bass is the perfect price point for mods.

Oh I didn't know that very cool. I'm hoping some of those higher end models are translated to bass, the GIZ101 and GIZ102 look stunning!

@@MyBassistChris Unfortunately they don't have the Wilkinson pick ups for their basses. Only their 6 string electric guitars. I hope one day they do make a series with them id buy one.

this is now 2 years old; did they update the other bass guitars with these new features/Contruction?

I believe only their newer models. You'd have to email/contact them directly if you are looking into getting the new neck on an older model such as the GPII. Hope this helps!

It has a similar look to the Fender Aerodyne, but of course, that's where it ends. This is not a bad looking bass at all and sounds quite good, especially for the low price point. When Glarry sent you this bass to review, did they set it up for you first? What I like about Glarry and even Harley Benton, is that they can produce a less expensive instrument for beginners and make them with a degree of quality and good appearance.
@MyBassistChris
@MyBassistChris 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely influenced by the Aerodyne series! They did not set up the bass at all, I've been sent 3 Glarry basses and this one was set up better than the others. Glarry is great at listening to customer feedback & improving and then Harley Benton is knocking it out of the ballpark with their instruments.

Hi! I hope you read this. I really love your covers and I think your videos are very clear and entertaining. I was hoping that you could tell me which bass songs from mcr, the offspring, Green Day and fall out boy are easy to learn? My mother just gave me a bass and I am still trying to choose my first song. Thank you!

Hi I am not Chris but have been using his videos for a while to learn! I would say Disenchanted or I Don't Love You by mcr are some of the easier songs I've learned by them, as for fall out boy their bass lines tend to be a little complex, The Phoenix was pretty easy to learn as well as Sugar We're Going Down, I don't know anything for green day on bass besides Wake Me Up When September Ends which is fairly easy. I am no pro as I am completely self taught with the help of KZbin but I've been playing for about 6 months and would be happy to help any way I can :) good luck playing!!

@@librariancat.7074 Another tip I wanted to come back and quickly drop is you can learn an incredible amount from watching bassists play. Watching videos like Chris's have helped me lots to figure out picking techniques. Also a good way to approach more complex songs is taking advantage of KZbin's speed feature. Slowing down a video of Dance Dance helped me learn it easily and that's a song that was very difficult to me when I first started out.

I'm a Player that uses Pedals, so, while I will get New Electronics, (500k Pots..) I've Allready aquired New Pickups, as I was Embarassed playing live at a Jam!! So, as per output, my Zoom b3 or my Boss 50b pedals will more that Compensate

To those of you beginning to play bass. Stay as far away from Glarry basses as you can. Get a Squier Classic vibe.
@MyBassistChris
@MyBassistChris 11 ай бұрын
Squier Classic Vibes are a great series! However I would not say it's a fair comparison as this bass is $100 and Classic Vibes start at $430. Even a used Classic Vibe will be at least 3 times the price of a Glarry. Not saying the Glarry is amazing, but the Squier isn't in everyone's budget.

Agreed! Recently got the 50s vibe and the quality is mind blowing for the price. I love the body on this (rear routing, no pick guard) and might get one if I can fit a reverse headstock (Dusty Hill) p or j neck on it 🙃
