It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Excellent job Paul! I do miss Castlemilk and the view from St Margaret Mary’s walking down Carmunnock Rd.

Very nice video. I’m originally from Bellshill, now abroad but I’ve don’t know a lot of Glasgow suburbs. This is great fun. You learn something new every time. Good to see the differences from town to town. Keep up the great work! 🎉

That took me back! A great wee video. Many thanks Paul. I moved with my parents back in 1957 to Castlemilk, to lovely new flats in Dougrie Road just opposite Castleton School. However we lived on the wrong side of the road for me to go to that school! Like many other children I got the bus to school in Govanhill, but I didn't mind that. Everything was new about Castlemilk back then and south of Ardencraig Road you were in the country. I remember as well how nice the neighbours all were. And the closes were kept clean by everyone, but maybe that didn't happen everywhere. I haven't been back in Glasgow for many years and it's amazing to see what it's like now. When I started school we lived in Riddrie, in Tilt Street. I think there must be lots of changes in that area following the big new roads that were built there. Any chance sometime you could maybe take a run around Riddrie and the general area and show us what's going on there now?

We moved up to Castlemilk from Maryhill in 57. I was bussed to Govanhill for school every day as well, Victoria Primary.
@ZL54JK8Ай бұрын
@@michelcharron4633 Well, blow me down! We must have travelled on the same bus! I was in Mr Bain's and then Mr Paterson's class in Victoria, and then went to Strathbungo. They've demolished Victoria now, so it's all just memories. I was, and am, a "bus enthusiast" and I loved the trips to and from Victoria. There were ladies employed to supervise the bus we travelled on. Miss Noon I remember, and she seemed to have an unlimited collection of weekly comics that she used to exchange with the boys on the bus! In the morning there was a great big line of school buses waiting on Birgidale Road going to various schools, and that shows how many youngsters couldn't get a school near where they lived. But we managed. Happy days!

@@ZL54JK8 Yep Mr Bain...used to make model boats and sail them on QP pond..vague memories of a Mr Patterson but I sort of remember him as Miss Patterson lol..long time ago...I ended up Netherton primary then Glenwood Secondary, hence why watching. Place has changed but I was shouting out at various points.....'that's where the 'bundy' was etc...passed places of where I have fond memories, and other places that we won't dwell on lol

Love your blog of Castlemilk but again you never drove down Downcraig Road. I left Castlemilk nearly 50 years ago and it’s still the only place I call home! I had the best upbringing in Castlemilk, plenty of things to do and never seen any trouble. I’m watching your blog before Xmas and it’s made me very sentimental about my old home, thanks for bringing back great memories. Have a great Xmas.

I don't know this area but it looks very nice. I dare say it looked like all the other schemes back in the day. I remember the smog in the 50s and 60s. caused mainly by industry and home coal fires it was terrible I assume you don't get fog like that anymore Great video. Margaret from Adelaide

My mum lived in Croftfoot Quad. I stayed with her for 2 weeks whilst waiting to go back to work at Butlins, memories, thanks 😊. She sadly passed away at 55. There was a betting shop nearby, i got sent to go get my mums partner at the time, a certain footballer had asked about me 😂😂, anyone shed any light about the betting shop? This was in the early 90s, ah the memories, thanks, subscribed 👍.

I live in East Kilbride and used to give a lift home to a girl in my work if her husband couldn't make it. It's been a few years but recognise some of the roads. You even drove through her street! She's moved on from there and the work.
