43 years ago I left Glasgow for Australia. This breaks my heart to see Springburn, I grow up in Elmvale Row. I don’t recognise any of it anymore. So very sad. Thank you for the video.

I lived 16 up in the Balgrayhill flats for about 5 years overlooking Stobhill and the park. Couldn't see a thing out the window when it snowed, but it was crazy seeing only the tops of the Red Road Flats poking up over the morning fog as if they were sitting in mid air. Guy Fawkes Night was spectacular, too. Loved my flat so much I even wrote a song about it, thumbing lifts from passing planes and sparks from the fuse boxes when there was low cloud, that kind of thing :) Visitors used to freak out a bit when it was windy, but I found it relaxing being rocked to sleep when the flats were swaying. I'm now well settled in the NW Highlands, although I still have a saft spot for the flats and watch out for them whenever I'm approaching Glasgow. Kinda like the feeling of being home when coming up from Englandshire and seeing the chimneys at Ravenscraig in the past.

It is called Sighthill Cemetery, Born in Stobhill hosp 1960 and left Springburn in 81. What a mess they have made of Springburn, as you were driving I could only see old Springburn and the old buildings and shops with many memories. Springburn was a small town, full of shops, and pubs. Glasgow District Council should be ashamed of the destruction of Springburn. I live in Spain now but always belong to Springburn. By the way, I understood every word😁

My old playground springburn balgrayhill spent 21 years there best years of my life started of in possilpark 60s 70s . Then moved to balgrayhill brilliant time ⏲️ brilliant video m8 keep them coming 👍.

I used to go to North Glasgow college back in the mid 90’s when it was in the now demolished building on the left at 15:30 and the large sandstone building being worked on, I think it was a railway building at one time

Good video Paul, had a wee spell up there at hawthorn St, 1983-85 then returning to the east end , big changes , I remember the Glasgow perthshire club when I was up there . Used to be a Good place.

I'm surprised at all the new buildings that have gone up in such a short time, my parents stayed in hillkirk st and I was there all the time are all these new flats council run social housing for the immigrants.

@@ROUTEPLANNERPAUL yes it is quite difficult….but not impossible…i hitch hiked out of Glasgow once to England and with the noise of the engine i could not understand most of his conversation..the driver was from Glasgow..

Scottish people that Live in England ,i can understand them perfectly too..i knew a guy fron Dundee no problem, If you slowed down a bit it would probably be better,then we could have time to translate as you go along..
