Very interesting for me was the two photos of Dale street, my dad was born at number 40. So as near as possible to see the kind of environment he was born into.

Took me a while, but the music is from an album called ‘Ambience’ by Claire Gobin. And it’s ‘Someone to watch over me’ written by Gershwin You’re welcome !

Second thoughts. This sounds nothing like 'Someone to watch over me' but that's what it says on the CD sleeve. But it's definitely on that album !

I fled my Third World Glasgow suburb in 1988, when Thatcher, inflicted on us by the English, cost me my job, my marriage, and my kids. Much of Glasgow is "Third World". As one source stated: "Low incomes are also closely associated with poor health. In Glasgow, Scotland, where the gap between rich and poor is particularly acute, the average male's life expectancy is worse than in much of the developing world, including Algeria, Egypt, Turkey and Vietnam."

`In this video, I just couldn't see any rubbish on the streets normally associated with our slum less society.

Who owned the land and property such as this? Who were the builders?

These images a quite inferior to that of Thomas Annan's, which really capture the atmosphere of the closes, courts and wynds of Glasgow, including people with bare feet.

It must have been great for those families that decided to go to Canada or America etc what excitement they must have had to escape that to a new world.

Amazing to think what's called poverty today isn't actually poverty at all.

In most - if not nearly all - cases, people who end up on the streets have experienced an emotional trauma at some stage in their lives.

@@laurenceegan6136 There would be more outrage and more done to help them if the majority of them were women but they're not.

Bad as things might be now, everyone has inside toilets, a bathroom, electricity, central heating and electrical gadgets that would be unknown 100 years ago.

We don't know we're living nowadays, I experienced a bit of what it was too want growing up in the 60s\70s, like the time I came from school, on my birthday, and knew for some reason I had got an action man, but when i got told to open the sideboard door I was trying not to look let down, it wasn't the real kind of action man,it the cheap plastic kind more like a Barbie doll in a uniform haha, but seriously we drank water, juice was a kind of luxury back then, even trying to make juice with water and a packet of swizzles, haha, but compared to the people from away back, living in slums, or just simply living back in those days, we lived in luxury, and today it's, luxury, materialistic, and exuberant haha.
