Was there in 2019. Had to take the full circle. On the way back our ring didn't work so we took the other direction. 👍❤

The interior of the older trains remind me of the 1972/1973 tube stock. What do you think?

It surely does!

The 1972/1973 tube stock were also built by Metro Cammell

I was thinking this way when I was there filming ... it all looked so familiar, yet also a little different ... perhaps because the car ends of the Glasgow trains were also like the first versions of London's Standard stock trailers which also only had two pair of sliding doors on each side of the train

And this adds to the sense of Glasgow as being London's architectural and transport 'cousin'

Do like the new subway trains in Glasgow, Going to be trying them out for myself near at the time.

I had taken the Glasgow Subway back in 2016. Nice trains. Often nicknamed the MetCam Glasgow Subwat Trains "Glasgow Caterpillars" because of their body shape

This new train looks even more cramped than the old ones
@thomascook57810 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if it's an optical illusion caused by the connecting gangway, where the carriages are separate, and the carriage doors on the old trains were, I'll need to get a ride on one to see
@QuarioQuario5432110 ай бұрын
@@thomascook578the walls and doors seem to be thicker as well. Apparently the new trains have a slightly higher top speed (only going from 34 to 36 MPH)

@@QuarioQuario54321 I think some of the bends, that's a good thing, going from St George's Cross to Cowcaddens is some bend and dip as it heads into Cowcaddens

Having travelled on both, the new ones are more spacious

Glad I got to ride on these before they get phased out and replaced, really nice little trains. I didn't get to ride the isle of wight 1938 stock but at least I travelled on the glasgow subway. The newe trains just don't have the same charm as the older trains.

11:03, that chime with the doors closing honestly sounded like it would be a good fit for the trains. Just like New York.

I did manage to ride the old Met-Cam "caterpillars" before their eventual retirement.

Some are being saved, for museums, etc, but what would be great is if an historic railway centre / living museum was able to afford to fit batteries and run one of these trains in passenger service.

New trains are awesome but I'll miss the old yins as well

Loving the new trains look good, i like stadler trains, just hope that they get more disabled accessibility in the station, iirc only St Enoch and, i think, Hillhead have lifts.

how long must this subway've provided mobile coverage?
@Andrewjg_8910 ай бұрын
So the older Glasgow subway trains that are to be replaced by the new subway trains that Stadler have built and manufactured are to be scrapped. Hopefully one of those older subway cars would be preserved.

I am curious, why do you ask? Is it because of the walk-through nature of these trains?

Are enough people travelling to justify a 24 hour service?
