Brilliant, a lovely little system. Third oldest in the world. They should definitely expand it I think.

I think the Glasgow Underground a very interesting system. The thirld oldest and never gets expand, but today they goes for a third major modernization if new Stadler Driverless trains and practically rebuilding the entire system to 21st standards. I just imagine that the Glasgow at least need a new subway, but this time building in full scale, and have stations link if old system, and create integrate network.

Glasgow is a fairly big city, would be good if they extended it to serve more areas.

glad they kept some of the old rolling stock for preservation.

The guy who say it works better than London's underground because it's younger isn't really hitting the point. The main reason is that Glagow's underground is just 6 and a half miles long and has 15 stations. London's underground is 250 miles long and has 279 stations, therefore there's a LOT more to go wrong.

That's Victorian engineering for you. Modern stuff seems to break down after 20 years or less.

Only 4 underground networks in The UK , London, Liverpool, Newcastle and Glasgow. London's , Liverpool's and Newcastle's are part of extensive networks which continue to grow

@glasgowtommy Yeah, which may be why it works better. It's a circle, its easy for engineering works. Look at the map of the Glasgow Underground map and then look at the London Underground map. We have a huge system that needs updating badly. The Northern line has the oldest signals in the world.

Uncle Meat There is one very important difference between the underground of say, London and Glasgow. If you speak to a complete stranger on the Glasgow underground they don't freak out but converse in a pleasant manner with you. On the London Underground nobody even looks at each other for a second. They just sit and nurse their hysterical fear.

John Stots I lived in Edinburgh so I'm not a country bumpkin. People have the same capacity for good or bad no matter if they live in a city or in the country anyway. I find you insulting so you prove my point. Good day to you.

You would probably struggle to find someone in London to casually converse with that speaks enough fluent English to keep a conversation going nowadays.
