In regards to the 'to/two black hooves "mistake", it's hard to say what an artist is thinking when they write their lyrics. No one but the writer can say what he means because it is no ones message to convey but his. Personally I like it more and believe it was written as five finger to black hooves insinuating a change within to something dark or beastly. In my opinion its describing a metamorphosis into an evil being within the shell of who he once was. I believe its supposed portray a sudden change to lesser ways that would occur after hard drugs... not that drug use makes you lesser or evil lol. I could philosophize about lyrics until the end of time, especially some as far out and deep as glass animals. The last bit of the post is of course my own opinion of the song, I just hate seeing people post like they wrote the shit. Music is art and art is expression so it is not always the obvious straightforward answer and pushing it to be such is only stifling free thinking and creativity. P.S. Seeing this band is a must if you ever get the chance! They were Mesmerizing at WAKARUSA last summer to say the least. Peace and Love

As I understand it, part of the inspiration for the song is form the book The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells, which tells the story of this mad scientist who is turning animals into human like creatures. One of the themes of the story is about what it means to be a human and what really separates us from animals, if anything. That then plays into what the difference between good and evil are or if they exist at all. If you imagine this song being sang from the perspective of one of the creature sit makes sense. And you aren't wrong.

I like your comment but I always saw it as, "Five finger two black hooves" like the devil. Depicted as a goatman he would have the two hands, five fingers each and the hooves to replace his feet. I personally see it as the devil welcoming an unsuspecting boy to his zoo of horrors which would have all kinds of symbolism. But I personally like both depictions, especially with the further backstory of the inspiration to the lyrics. Great interpretation!!

This is basically saying your a demon, right? Five fingered hands, two black hooves. Five fingers referring to hands of course but two black hooves meaning a goat lower body (I.e goats being a symbol of Satanism I suppose) and being crooked but upright means being sly and devious (I.e “crooked”) but upright, considering they CAN still stand upright

this song reminds me of my life heres why the chorus "im a man im a twisted fool my hands are twisted too." it reminds me of how i tell people that yes i have anger issues to let you know but im alright. the part where he says "and my bones go cold when i see that room" is how my anxiety feels when i see certain objects that reminds me of tragic things. the part where he says "i can still help you" reminds me of me trying to force myself to still like people even though they hurt me physically and mentally". when the say "all i ever want is breaking me apart" where i cant trust people anymore and i start becoming mad. the whole corus(when it sounds more intese) is me trying to describe my anger issues and promblems and admitting them but when people dont listen and get mad at me for being mad i yell at them letting them know that i will never trust or love people just sometimes because of my anger. phew ok thats it lol
